I honestly believe that Jose has left Herrera out for a specific reason. Due to use playing teams that will play very defensive, we needed Mata to help make something happen in the offensive end. Plus, I believe we will switch to 3-5-2 when we play the likes of City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and the Scouse. That is when Herrera will make his debut as a starter.

Also, Jones was MOTM for me.

I just think he isn't fancied as much as the others.

Also big risk giving a player his seasons debut against our main competitors, not just the risk of Herrera not being sharp enough but also ruining the balance and relationships that are being worked on. Central midfield is they key to all of that, so I think Jose see's Herrera as back-up for injuries, suspensions and meaningless EFL Cup games etc. I think we have seen he trusts Fellaini more from the bench as well.

I can't speak highly enough of Herrera however I think Jose learnt that his success with Chelsea came from not tinkering too much and to allow players to get to know one another's games inside/ out. Last year was all over the place, no relationships, no thought of the 2nd 3rd ball, everything was hesitant. I think Jose will do what he can to keep the same team/ spine at least throughout the season.

I wouldn't put much money on it but I could even see Herrera being sold if £50m+ is on the table from say Barcelona. I wouldn't do it, but I can see something crazy happening before the end of the window. We need a big squad but with the history of Herrera and his dropping down the pecking order, crazier things have happened.

Herrera will play a big part these season against tougher opposition let's not forget the games we have played against teams who sat deep. Herrera will be essential against the top half teams and champs league.

He came off the bench in one of the games.

And yesterday we needed a goal so more offensive players were needed.

It's a long season and everyone will get there chance.

But there is no need to change a winning team just to keep players happy.

It's there job to force there way into the team. Ie training ect.

Against tougher opponents, when Jose may decide to go 4-3-3, I think Herrera will start. Jose has kept continuity in the first three matches, and the results have proved him right. Over the course of the season I hope Herrera will get his share of games.
