With United being quiet in the transfer window and there being a real possibility that we don't make the squad improvements we need, who do we most want to see get the bump up from the u23's/ reserve team?

For me it's meijbri (not sure on spelling) and Ethan laird. Both play in positions we need to improve and both could really give the first team squad a boost.

Mejbri is still a child and should not be in the first team this season imo, maybe a few games towards the end once he’s 18. He’s a top prospect but we shouldn’t be rushing him.

Mengi looks likely to be the next one given a chance, may even push ahead of Tuanzebe.

I think Mengi over Tuanzebe is a great shout. Tuanzebe has been very unlucky with injuries though is 23 now and needs to be playing in the first team or regular squad player with a lot of game time if not. Assuming he is good enough of course. Some players though it just doesn't happen for. Tuanzebe seems a bit Phil Jones like where he's capable of picking up a knock when we are not even playing competitive games. It is telling that we have recruited so poorly at CB and yet Tuanzebe has not been able to take his chances. That should really open the door for Mengi this season. Especially as it looks as though money is tight and we certainly don't look able to sign a CB unless at least two of Smalling, Rojo, Jones, Bailly and possibly even Tuanzebe himself are sold.

Think Mengi is well thought of but whether he can make the step up remains to be seen.

I would love to see Jimmy Garner breakthrough further so we see him regularly in the first team / squad. Appreciate he's already been blooded with 6 or 7 first year games.

I think garner and levitt will both go on loan. We will maybe see a few games for mengi in the cups and maybe the odd cameo for Mejbri, but the way he handled the step up to the 23s this year I see no reason to think he can’t progress and in 6 months time be getting a few squad appearances.
