OMG it's not even August yet and Murtaugh and Arnold have completed just the 3 transfers to fill our main needs. With only a month left in the transfer window they've also only sold 2 surplus players, extended Rashford's contract, let at least 2 expensive contracts lapse, and moved on a number of younger fringe players who are not regarded as having a chance. They've only spent what looks close to what our transfer budget was reported to be and it looks like the three new player's combined salaries will be about the same as was de Gea's alone.

I'm not one of those who like to rush to judgment but these guys have no idea what they are doing. They still haven't got rid of Martial, Fred, DVDB, McTom, Maguire, Bailly or Williams. The excuse that no one in their right mind is going to pay these players what we're paying them is pathetic. They need to pull their fingers out.

You forgot they also extended the contract of our brightest academy prospect in Garnacho. They really are making Woodwood look very silly. They've even managed to tie up the Hojlund deal while in America, without the need to fly back from tour to sort "urgent" transfer business (That turned out to be signing Fellaini several weeks later) .

Did it help that all three players wanted to come to United? I think if they did not want us we would have wrapped them all up in days and paid less for each player.

What you fail to mention there Shappy is that by waiting the entire window Ed was able to wait to the pesky release clause was gone and show the world he meant business.

Didn’t Mount turn down offers of around 200-250k from Chelsea as he didn’t feel it was high enough? Seen a few sources saying Mounts on around 300K but might not be entirely accurate but doubt it’s far off. DDG was on 325k ish?
