Hopefully we get to see Hoijlund play today I've got a really good feeling about him.

He is basically the big hope for the season. A lot of pressure for him, but I honestly think this team goes up a few levels with a proper striker with energy and movement and a bit of magic up front. Rashford is a winger. Martial has no natural movement in the box whatsoever, and is always injured. I hope he can make the number 9 role his this year.

Love to see the young lad come in and do a great job of course but my head tells me that he could be on the end of a hammering today -our midfield will be overun and a makeshift defence does not look good.

thought it would be a loss. too many players out and not settled team. will get much better. We are decimated at the back and martinez injury a big concern. Said all along no third striker needed even on closing day of the window, need a cb but finances would not allow it.

Ahmed what you mean did not need a 3rd striker, so I guess your saying Rasmus who is 20 played about 25 mins in EPL, not a prolific scorer anyway is number 1 striker for a supposedly a possible EPL and Champs league team and your classing Martial as our Number two striker, I agree with you we did not need a 3rd Striker we needed a FIRST striker.
we seriously have to face it sad and hard to say we are not a big club anymore, we don’t either enter the race to sign top players any more take Kane, he already scoring, in another country, Bellingham he got 4 in 4 and he a midfielder and Rice even he scoring as well as controlling games, we did not even enter the bidding for any of them, and people say they did not want to come or we could not buy, no you can’t buy if you not in the race…you can’t win the lottery if you not bought a ticket. 6 points adrift and 11 goals now, and personally even with the players bought and injured back I don’t see that bridges the gap we have got ourselves in even this early in the season, you need quality we been buying 2nd and 3rd tier players!
Ok we got injuries but to go into a season without a recognised No 9 and with McGuire and Evans as CB’s is bordering on insanity.

Usual bunch will say pessimistic but if you think we are winning anything with this bunch well time to wake up and smell the coffee.

This is not just based on these 4 games the end of last season was just as bad and last 10 years were worse then bad, yes it’s a little better, but not what it should be with half a billion spent.
Sorry it that upsets but it’s my opinion.

If you finish a game with 5th and 6th choice CB you’re always going to struggle, disappointing as thought we deserved at least a point but another away game against a rival where we have struggled.

I hate this crap about the team isn’t settled etc. It’s the same for every team from day 1. If they are not settled then perhaps the manager did not use pre season sensibly.

The fact is……. we were rubbish. 1 shot on goal in first 20 mins.

Awful in fact. But I’ll never stop supporting or believing the next game will be better. But please don’t make excuses for the same rubbish as last year.

Only positive. Hoijlund looks a menace.

To be fair re: the injuries, not many sides could expect to have both their first choice centrebacks and their two LBs injured at the same time, I think most clubs would struggle in these circumstances hence an emergency and unexpected loan being required.
I thought we were unlucky with the disallowed goal and the penalty reversal was the right decision. But I hope Erik's possession-based tactics are able to expand beyond passing the ball between our defenders and Onana. Other teams (see Spurs and Brighton) have also brought in managers reknowned for their pressing style but are exciting and attacking. Hope once everyone is fit we can see what it is he has in mind because sometimes it's a struggle.

We had 2 off our back 4 and then with Martinez going off 3 of the back four missing. We had evans and maguire playing the last 15 minutes and our replacements are a major trade off in quality.

Mount is injured, Ambrabat yet to kick a ball, hoilands first 25 minutes of epl then you have you players like Mainoo out, Amad out, sancho and mc and not sure why they missed the game, who give you options later in the game. We lacked options and went with the best that was available.

I understand people being upset and wanting to blame something or someone. Not concerned one bit, this is a really good group and once settled will win a lot of games and pretty optimistic on our chances this year.

But if it makes you happy stay negative and find all the negative things you want bud.

Ahmad, you’re 100% correct. I thought we actually played very well all things considered. Especially the last 25 minutes after Hojlund came on. Changed the look of the team completely in the final third.

If any of the above are reason we lost this game, then your in for a long season indeed.

Shaw, Malacia, Martinez, Varane, Lindelof, Amrabat, Mainoo, Mctominay, Sancho, Amad were all missing at the end of the game. It’s ok to just admit we had a few injuries without having to argue every point anyone ever makes Maze.
