Reflecting on Amorim.

People keep referring to him as Manager, however he is actually Head Coach. That to me has a different connotation, they are seen, I believe, as more transitory. I keep watching that post Grimsby interview where it seems clear Amorim is saying in effect the players are not trying or don't want to do what he asks. I am fed up to the back teeth with players not trying for our boss or deciding what tactics they want. Whatever happens with Amorim this must not be allowed to continue.

However, I have a funny feeling that if we fail to beat Burnley and the players are not 100% on it, Amorim may resign. That interview is so frustrating because it tells us the underlying attitude of some players is all wrong. Rangnick had it right, but despite the bomb squad have we really been ruthless enough? Has the Captain Bruno been tough enough? Not for me. Keane would have kicked them into line.

This has to be dealt with. Top down the club remains a shambles. If the club believes in Amorim, find out which ones he thinks have a poor attitude and create a bigger bomb squad. Examples need to be set. For heavens sake do not bring in another coach just to be the players friend and that's aimed at Ole who is now available after failing again.

Which ones? We can always know the obvious names,

Dalot - Average, have not improved with years and always has a mistake in him, not good going forward and always vulnerable tracking back.

Shaw - Pensioner, spent much time on treatment table and is on a decline. With left side area already covered, we do need to move him.

&

Amad - Superstar Amad! Always trying to do the spectacular, playing more than he should, wasting too much time on the ball, does not go wide, no crosses, no combination. Pure frustration.

Shaw and Dalot seem to be at Man Utd on a pension fund. Time to move them on or atleast stop playing them.

But then Amorin is short of choices on RB now if we discard Dalot, we all have seen when Amad plays, he and Mbuemo occupy same spaces. Both look to come inside rather than going wide.

The reason why Mbuemo was signed was to allow him play top and Amad to play RB. But I have not seen anything good so far with respect to combinig. They both hunt for same balls, can anyone see how many crosses we have delivered from right side to the box? Very very few.

Problem is players reach Man Utd and they feel they have done it and stop improving. If you ask me this should be the Squad

Bruno
Mbuemo
Cunha
De Ligt
Yoro
Heaton - If no GK signs
Casemiro
Sesko
Mount
Dorgu
Amad (If he wants to play RWB) else play Leon.

I’ve been mulling it all over since the Grimsby game. Reading articles and listening to ex pros, pundits etc.

Based on everything going on, I’m in agreement with many out there that Amorim is not the right guy. Sticking so hard to a system and refusing to tinker at all is simply not going to work in the prem.

The prem is much tougher than Portugal. Much better players, much better managers. They have all found the weakness in the United setup and exploit it nearly every game. And if RA refuses to ever change it, the same thing will continue to happen.

Putting prime Kante and Keane in the middle would help. But most of the time it would still be 2 vs 3 in the middle. More often than not, the opposition 3 will play around who ever the United 2 are.

There’s a reason nearly every team in the league plays a similar formation.

Playing 3 or 5 at the back like he does often means the spare man is a centre back. Not the best person to have loads of time on the ball.

As he refuses to ever consider his system is not right, he simply won’t succeed at the club or in this league. Results will continue as they have done and he will be gone in the next few weeks/ months.
