Does anyone know who this lad Bruno Martins Indi is and if he's any good and have any interest in him? Or is it a case of being linked with anybody Dutch!

{Ed002's Note - Feyenoord's Bruno Martins Indi is subject to interest from Manchester United, Roma, Milan and Everton. Manchester United are unable to buy any of their first choice centre backs and have made an enquiry about Martins Indi.}

Doesn't sound promising ed, unable to get our first targets

2.) 14 May 2014
Very interesting Ed thank you

3.) 14 May 2014
Ed by first choice centre backs who are you refering to?

thanks.

{Ed002's Note - See above or below.}

4.) 14 May 2014
So we are unable to buy Mangala and Ginter it seems. Focus to shift on Martins Indi, Hummels, Garay now?

Ed02, Transfermarkt have his primary position as a LB and secondary positions as CB. Could he be a "Ginter" type signing rather than a "Mangala" type signing. Buying him would also enable us to offload Buettner. What do you think? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Jones, Ivanovic, Smalling and lots of others are flexible.}

So it looks like Hummels, Mangala, Garay and Ginter are unavailable or are likely to be moving somewhere else.

Personally I really like Martins Indi and I put him forward as someone we should target months ago.

People I think are still getting caught up with the views of the previous managerial campaign.

van Gaal is a man who doesn't believe in age being a factor or whether someone is a big name signing. All he cares about is whether the player can play his system.

7.) 14 May 2014
Shappy, Moyes' plan was to sign Mangala as the main CB and someone like Ginter/Hinteregger as a cheaper option with potential. I think the plan now maybe Hummels as the main CB with Indy as the cheaper option with potential. It seems Garay is no longer seen as a target. Mangala is City or RM bound. Many papers saying we want both Hummels and Indy.

Your assuming that van Gaal also wants to bring in two new CB's. This may not be the case especially if the rumours that he sees Fellaini as a CB are true.

Could he move Fellaini to CB and bring in someone like Indi?

Ed02 has said that we are looking at Indi as our first choices aren't available. He also said that Hummels is unlikely to be allowed to leave this summer. I would put 2 and 2 together and come up with 4. We aren't going to be getting Hummels this summer.

Maybe then Martins Indi is now the main target.

9.) 14 May 2014
It would be somewhere for Fellaini to slot in. A bit like Martinez transformation at Barca from CM to CB? I think he is a bit too rash though if I am honest.

10.) 14 May 2014
A few newspapers broke the story this morning that we are going to bid for Hummels and Indi this summer.

Moyes wanted Mangala and Ginter/Hinteregger. I don't believe the Fellaini rumours personally.

I would be surprised if Indi was the main target, especially when we have serious funds to spend this summer.

11.) 14 May 2014
Shappy, perhaps Indi would be enough along with Jones, Evans, Smalling & Keane. I guess we need to find out if Indi is a battler like Vidic or a ball player like Ferdinand. If he is a battler like Vidic, then it's fair to say we will still need a ball player like Hummels.

Get on the case Shappy, find out if he's a Vidic or a Ferdinand.

12.) 14 May 2014
I've seen him a few times this season and he is the kind of ball playing centre back you would expect having spent all his career in the Netherlands, but he has very good strength and pace, he is a perfect blend of Vidic and Ferdinand imo, whether he'll get to their level remains to be seen. But with the right coaching and the right application from him he could be one of the best in the world. He isn't as fast or quite as strong as Mangala but he is much much better on the ball. My only concern about him is his lack of experience at the highest level.

I think just him alone could be enough this summer.

13.) 14 May 2014
Also you need to consider that van Gaal has never been the kind of manager to spend to a budget, just because there maybe 30m to spend on a CB that doesn't mean he'll sign someone for 30m. He will sign the players who he feels best fit into his system regardless of price. If that means he can get the right player for 10m rather than 30m then he'll sign the 10m player.

14.) 14 May 2014
Shappy, he won't get a £30m budget for a CB. But he will be well aware of the total budget that he will have this summer. I still think we will go for Hummels, but I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't. I'm starting to get the feeling we will see a few Dutch players signed over the next couple of seasons.

15.) 14 May 2014
Hummels is the main target, as baca are going all out for side show bob of Chelsea- persons lol

16.) 14 May 2014
I'm not saying he will have 30m to spend on a CB, but if the club give him a 150m to overhaul the squad he isn't the kind of manager just to spend money on a player for the sake of it. He will pick the right players for his system and he will pick players who play in positions where there aren't any outstanding youth players coming through as well.

Hummels may well be a target but with Lewandowski already leaving this summer Dortmund will do their best to hold on to their key players. He hasn't said he wants to leave and Dortmund don't want or need to sell him. It will take a huge bid to bring him to the club this summer and even higher wages considering our lack of UCL football.

17.) 14 May 2014
Then we should pay it. What's the point of having all this money to spend if you are not going to buy the best? We have spent the past five years buying potential. It's time to start paying big bucks for the big players.

Theres always a tipping point no matter how much you have to spend. What if Hummels would cost 45m and want wages of 240k per week to sign? Would you sign him then?

The club may have money to spend but that doesn't mean they should throw it around willy nilly.

They also want to sign a LB one or two midfielders and forward/winger.

If Shaw will cost 30m and Hummels more that 40m then that's over half the estimated budget, and there's nothing to say the budget might be 100m in which case we would have just 25-30m left to sign 2/3 players.

Its all about finding A balance. Maybe the asking price for Hummels is just too much considering the other areas we have to buy in.
