So Pellergrini comes into City and talks about how they have the best squad and how he is going to win the league and make them entertaining. He will probably bring Isco with him who let's face it is one of the best young players in the world. Compare that with We get David Moyes and what do we get told. "Give him time" Obviously Fergie thinks he is going to struggle for a bit. Am I the only one who is a tiny little bit worried. {please don't just come on here and say get behind him. Of course I will and I hope and prey that I am wrong} It's just I have so many niggling doubts about him and nobody on here or in the media has said anything to convince me otherwise. Remember this is a man who when his team defends a corner brings all 11 men back into the box and doesn't leave anyone forward. The one good thing is that he has an agreement with Kenwright not to take anyone from Everton which is quite a relief when you look at who we have dumped on them in the past. So that is your latest task convince me that David Moyes is going to lead us to glory

Well one thing is for sure fatty ando and rooney won't be fat anymore

2.) 16 Jun 2013
Talk is cheap. When did you hear SAF say "we will win the league"? He always said that the league was the main priority but that a trophy per season was what the club should aim for. Let Pellegrini talk as much as he likes, it will only add pressure when he hits a bumpy patch where as United and our fans know all about responding to rough periods and know not to panic. Nothing I or anyone else says is going to ease your worries about David Moyes but I have a sneaking suspicion that you might just find yourself pleasantly surprised.

The overconfidence of some of our fans worries me. Let Pelligrini talk as if he's a novice. This guy is a top manager, he's won trophies and will do a fantastic job for city.
If they get isco then that will be a major signing for them.
We're talking about garay, verala?
If we don't start buying some decent talent, then we're screwed. Kloot is right.

4.) 16 Jun 2013
Totally over rated as we've said all along! £17m for him is an absolute joke.

5.) 16 Jun 2013
"KLOOT"
We can't convince you that David Moyes has what it takes, the only person that can do that is the man himself!
However, given the choice of the two managers I know who many of us on here would choose, but are we really looking at the strengths and weaknesses of the two managers.
With David Moyes we instantly recognise his weaknesses and what we dislike about his management style. We have been able to witness this through his time at Everton, and you are right he is very defence minded, quite direct and at times boring. However, can you maybe put a spin on this and take the positives. He is experienced in the league, he knows the demands, the different styles of teams, he knows how the premier league is run and also has had the time to network and find the right people to employ around him.
We then look a Pellegrini, and he can say whatever he wants, but its still new to him. He maybe an experienced manager, but he is a novice to the league. He failed at Real Madrid and shows his lack of temperament when the pressure is on and there is a lot of pressure with the City role. Who would you rather have take over the irreplaceable Sir Alex, a novice or a student of the premier league for the past ten years?
I to am worried about Europe and whether David Moyes is able to stamp his own style onto Manchester United.
Although, I really believe there is something to Moyes. Sometimes the quietest person, knows the most and Moyes has displayed that quality since he was announced the next manager. He has not bigged up the squad or stated who he's going to sign, he has quietly gone about his business, got his head into order away from the media and will come back on task and hopefully gets a couple of players on task.
Moyes strikes me as a great student of football and he displayed that with Everton and their approach to football, with new and has to be said exciting tactics. Those tactics will work better with better players.
Finally, to finish, City can buy who they like. If you throw enough money at anything its going to give you a strip tease, but to many purchases upsets the balance. To many wrong purchases destroys a club, and to me City are heading down that route. Initially they bought crap and it shows now as they can't get rid of the players they do not need. They then bought quality, who won them trophies, but now those players who won the trophies are wanted by other clubs and those players want to move to those other clubs. Now that shows you that City can not keep their better players, even though their winning trophies. If Isco comes, Silva leaves. You would not see players leaving United when we our winning, unless we don't need those players anymore.

Someone should ring Moyes and tell him to call a presser quickly. He needs to tell all these worried fans that he intends to win all trophies and play exciting attacking football. He must also assure us that we will be signing some big name players to ensure we get the job done, unlike last season when we bought crap players and almost got relegated. Moyes must pay special attention to everything Pelle-watzizname says. If pelle says he have a burger for luch, Moyes should have two, so he always seem to be a step ahead.

Unlike last season, we can't afford to get screwed. oh wait.

7.) 16 Jun 2013
Pelligrini has won trophies. back in South America. Has won nothing in Europe yet.

8.) 16 Jun 2013
This upcoming season the EPL title race is so wide open it could be a three way race ( If Arsenal start decent, 4 ).
I do like the fact, Moyes seems to understand the midfield issues and will act to correct it, while strengthing the defense.
Saying all that, United under Moyes will most likely finish a close second, win a Domestic Cup, & reach the CL semifinals.

9.) 16 Jun 2013
My thoughts on Moyes are similar to Kloot and remain unconvinced he was the right choice, in fact he would not have been in my top five. Then there is the madness of giving him a six year contract. Pressure will grow until he wins the league or European cup.

City had a better first team than us last season but we had a deeper and less divided squad plus the drive from SAF to make up for the previous season. This season with a new manager and undoubtedly some major purchases they will be above us unless we pull out some seriously top class major buys in the summer. Those who say we will win the league with the addition of less than top class players because we did it last season are only deluding themselves.

The media will absolutely love it if we are knocked off our perch by City and Chelsea and the idea put about that we have to stand by our new manager gives me the idea that SAF expects a period of difficulty or perhaps that the owners are not going to support him to the level needed. After all everyone believes that SAFs speech about "you" supporting the new manager could easily have been aimed at the Glazer family as well as the supporters. We will find out in the coming weeks.

hey, no name I can't remember pellegrini winning a major trophy in europe, I AM KLOOT LET PELLEGRINI TALK THE TALK AND MOYES DO THE WINNING, KLOOTY BOY I BELIEVE MARK HUGHES WILL SAY HE WILL WIN TROPHIES WITH STOKE, IN AS MUCH AS I DISLIKE MANCINI HE IS BETTER THAN PELLEGRINI.

11.) 16 Jun 2013
TK-Red it was the first thing he said when we lost the league to City. Fergie was always confident not apologetic which is what he appears about Moyes

Pellegrini will be gone by this time next year. He might have been moderately successful in Spain but that doesn't mean he will be over here. City look to be making the same transfer mistakes as last year signing second rate players who will need half a season to adapt. And the manager will need time to settle as well. But the owners don't take excuses. Sure they'll bounce at the start of the season the thrill of a new manager and all that but I stand by saying they'll come third. Last year everyone was crapping themselves over chelsea because they signed hazard and I said they'd start well but fade and it happened. I could be wrong with City but I think their in for a few rough months. Chelsea certainly are our biggest challengers. As for United well the window hasn't opened yet, let's see what we do before panicking. MrE

13.) 16 Jun 2013
I hear lots of talk of Mourinho walking the league, where as for me I see City beiing the biggest threat to us in the league. I feel the actual transfers this summer could decide the league, so hard to comment really until the summer window finishes. However they have installed an experienced manager who I think will prove to be better than Mancini, a midfielder who can form a very solid partnership with Toure (a step up from Barry that I don't see failing like the really over rated Javi Garcia that I have never rated) and they now have in Navas a genuinely pacey winger to get behind teams that they haven't had in there squad since Wright-Phillips. If they do add a player such as Isco and a top goal scoring striker to partner Aguero they look very dangerous. I think Chelsea will be right up there but I don't see a real spine to there team as he created before as Lampard and Terry for example are at the end of there careers. IAMKLOOT I kind of agree with you, I think the signings Moyes makes are vital as personally I think he needs to hit the ground running or the pressure outside of the boardroom at least could magnify very quickly. However I think we should ignore the tactics he has used in the past, as this is a different club with different expectations and budgets so I am not sure he will be playing the same way as he has done, it is certainly going to be a very interesting season and I certainly hope we bring in at least one exciting player like a Bale/Ronaldo/Thiago type to get bums off seats as though we have a strong squad we don't have a very exciting one from the last season of play and this and the midfield should be the areas addressed to help Moyes hit the ground runnign in my opnion

No name, he's won the Intertoto cup with Villareal in 2004. Not exactly a glowing CV is it? I've no doubt citeh will be contenders, let's face it, anybody could manage a 1billion pound squad to the title, but, he's no experience of the Premier League. Moyes has got at Least 10 years on him in that respect so things do balance out a bit from that point of view.

15.) 16 Jun 2013
If I'm honest I think it's just in your nature to be worried/negative mate. If we had employed Pellegrini would you not be saying similar things about him not winning trophies etc? Now he's at City you're worried he's going to be a great of the game but who was talking about him being a top manager a year or 2 ago?

I like how you sum up Moyes with:

"Remember this is a man who when his team defends a corner brings all 11 men back into the box and doesn't leave anyone forward"

Let's all hope there's more to his game than that! Like TK Red says, talk is cheap.

16.) 16 Jun 2013
I think that's slightly different though. That year we had lost the league to our local rivals and he HAD to say that. Also he had done it 12 times before so by that stage he is allowed such a prediction. I know what you're saying but David Moyes has nothing to gain by talking in such a way; although, who knows, he may say exactly that at his first press conference.

No name, Pellegrini may have won leagues abroad but, as Red Man said, he hasn't won in Europe yet and it makes no difference anyway. I'm not entirely sure how effectively saying "lets wait and see" can be construed as overconfidence. I would say exactly the same were it Mourinho or Guardiola. Talk is still cheap.

17.) 16 Jun 2013
I bet that if Mourinho, Guardiola or any other manager would have taken over Sir Alex would have given us the exact same message of standing by the new manager. KLOOT does a brilliant job of twisting what Sir Alex said in an emotional speech and interpreting it the way he wants to fit his own argument.

Yes, the signings Moyes makes will be crucial. But a lot on here refuse to give the current squad the credit it deserves. City haven't exactly bought world beaters yet, Chelsea's transfer business hasn't been too different to ours anyway.

At this time last year who would have thought we would sign RVP? United always play their cards close to their chest and with the Euro U21s and FIFA Confederations cup this year, signings were always likely to happen later on in the summer.

To all the Moyes doubters. please tell me which managers in the world could have achieved what moyes has at Everton in the last 10 years with the resources available to him?
