Excellent post mate, completely agree. People may not like him but there is no denying what a player he has been and still is.

Believe (Colleen),

I am fed up of people talking about Rooney as if he is the player that everyone hoped he would turn out to be. This is exactly why people still talk about him, because he had all the potential in the world and he constantly under delivered, whether in an England shirt or Utd shirt. Yes he had a decent start to last season, but his decent start was due to a contract being up in the air and Moyes giving him the key to the kingdom whilst SAF had all but booted him out of it. The change didn't last long did it.

He had a good season a few years ago, but so do a lot of players hit a rich vein of form. When you are surrounded by the quality of a Utd team pre-2012, you are going to perform more than you don't. The trick is doing it when others aren't up to it and Rooney never seems to be up to it for long.

Rooney is not our major hope, and we are severely lacking a top striker and have been for ages. Not since Shearer or maybe Owen have we had one. This is why so much hope has been on Rooney's shoulders, but I think that more people would choose Sturridge over Rooney now.

I support anybody wearing an England or Utd shirt, but that doesn't mean they are exempt from criticism. You support your wife and kids, you can still tell them to up their game when they mess about.

One more thing, if Rooney was Brazilian, Argentinian, Spanish or German - he would be lucky to have a dozen caps to his name, he just isn't that good.

We have had the likes of Heskey, Defoe, Crouch & now Lambert playing for England, the bar to be our goal scoring hope hasn't been exactly too high!

well said believe

Colleen :), I have no hate for your Wayne but why should a player be respected because they wear a red shirt? Respect must be earned and isn't a thing that automatically comes with pulling the shirt on.
On another note I saw you in Sefridges last summer and you're much tastier in real life.

Wayne Rooney will almost certainly retire as Manchester United & England's all time leading goalscorer, that is one hell of a "rich vein of form", The Beast.

6.) 12 Jun 2014
Well done, carloto. You took The Beast's not so funny joke and made it even less so. You should probably try coming up with your own material from now on, although I don't hold out much hope for it being any good!

Rooney is a true world class player and people talk like he has retired with no silverware you may not like him or respect him but you look stupid saying he is not all that because he really is a top player
