I can't even find the sarcasm to describe the Ukraine FA.

{Ed001's Note - beyond a joke now mate. When even the Italian FA do not punish a player (not even a card) for the exact same reaction to racism, then you know you have a problem.}

I've lived in Ukraine for several years and whilst I am not overly surprised by this I'm disappointed they can't even bring themselves to 'keep up appearances' and do the right thing at least on the face of it.

The fact of the matter is that racism is endemic and deeply rooted in eastern European society. It's completely commonplace to see nationalistic flags in the Ultras section at both Dynamo and National team games, the two cultures go hand in hand.

It's by no means isolated just to Ukraine, I've spent time living in Hungary and Poland too and they are just as bad with a dose of violent homophobia thrown into the mix.

I've not witnessed any racism first hand here in Kyiv other a friend of mine being called 'chornyki' (a kind of semi-affectionate term - basically 'blackie') and asked for a photo, but outside of the capital, I wouldn't be at all shocked if things were much worse.

They've a long way to go to catch up with the levels of tolerance and equality seen in Western society.

The stark difference between how the Dutch are handling racist abuse in football and how the Ukraine are is damning.

UEFA needs to enforce new rules or regulations demanding the ref stop a game for racial abuse, and even abandoning games if all leagues that want to partake in European football.

If you said to a countries FA that clubs from that country cannot partake in the Europa or Champions League unless they enforce stopping games when racial abuse happens then it forces them to make real change.
