United to make 35million offer for Cesc Fabreagas according to a web site!

1.) 15 Jul 2013
Guillem Balague just tweeted that we've made a 30m euro bid

2.) 15 Jul 2013
We are in the silly season, we are not going to buy any players of note, we will be linked with everyone from around the globe, sad facts are we don't have the pulling power, the sugar daddies other teams have, has put paid to that.

3.) 15 Jul 2013
What website. makeupalotofnonsense.com was it?

4.) 15 Jul 2013
I seen that on tv. Ideal replacement for scholes

5.) 15 Jul 2013
Its on a website so it is more reliable than most rumours.

6.) 15 Jul 2013
I hope this is true but I highly doubt it will go through. I can't see Barcelona letting cesc leave after losing Alcantara.

Would love to see it happen though, providing he's committed!

7.) 15 Jul 2013
Fabregas?
I prefer Gundogan, but, wow. Fabregas would be good too!

MikonBR

8.) 15 Jul 2013
I highly doubt that Barcelona would sell fabergas given they are in the process of selling thiago. I suspect they may want to retain fabergas as midfield cover. I will eat my hat if we sign fabergas.

9.) 15 Jul 2013
Can't see it happening but I hope RVP is in hos ear convincing him to sign for us!

Ben

10.) 15 Jul 2013
Would have preferred Thiago as he's good enough now and perfect for the future, but Fabregas is better in the short term.

Fabregas alongside Carrick in a more advanced role, with Kagawa in front will be a pretty awesome midfield. Next we need a good winger.

Thorne

11.) 15 Jul 2013
Not sure Fagregas would be up for a move to us, but wouldn't be surprised to see a big signing. With Fergie retiring I believe we will sign someone as a sign of intent, just so our rivals know that we still mean business and that there is life after Fergie. It'll also look good on Moyes.

12.) 15 Jul 2013
Denis Irwin said in an irish paper a few weeks back that united are doing all they can to sign fabregas and they are going after him in pretty much the same fashion as they did RVP

13.) 15 Jul 2013
It's now on the tv website, so must have a relatively reliable source.

Fabregas would be an amazing signing for us, he is exactly the midfield motor that we need - let's hope it's true and goes through.

On a side note, don't Fabregas and RVP have the same agent? - Could be a factor that may help along the way.

14.) 15 Jul 2013
Wow. I read that and thought it was b******* but now tv reporting it.

15.) 15 Jul 2013
Thorne, you're talking like Fabregas has just been unveiled by Moyes at a press conference in Sydney lol.

Dan

16.) 15 Jul 2013
Anyone else think the timing of this rumour is a bit suspicious?Make it look like we're after top players. How hard are we actually going for players, we can bid for anyone and say we tried but if the offers aren't good enough we've no chance. Fabregas for £35m+his wages probably would amount to the same as Thiago £22m £100k a week and Baines £13-15m and £70k a week. Thiago could easily be better than him fairly soon too. I'd love Fabregas but from a money point of view it doesn't make sense and the Glaziers are all about that as we well know so I cannot see it happening

17.) 15 Jul 2013
Here's another thing that's really doing my nut in.
the poster is correct this has been reported in the last hour on bbc, tv and a spanish newspaper website. his article clearly states this and people are hitting unbelievable!
eeejets
then you get the same people who are having a go at moyes and our lack of transfers saying things like 'we'll never get him' or 'i'd rather Thiago' or 'they won't sell'
when the deal doesn't go thru they'll be the ones saying we missed out on fabregas because moyes can't attract big players/we won't pay the money/we don't have the pull.
WE HAVE BID FOR A QUALITY WORLD CLASS MIDFIELDER WHO IS EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED!

18.) 15 Jul 2013
30 million euro is more or less the same that Barca paid for cesc, me thinks this is just a bid to test the water and if UTD do get to the stage where a bid is accepted it would be difficult to convince cesc to leave them but we shall see

19.) 15 Jul 2013
Don't understand why some fans are so negative, "can't see it happening" etc. Why not?. He is not holding down a regular place in their team and has said he's open to a move back to the prem. Great signing in my opinion. Everton fan by the way.

20.) 15 Jul 2013
It won't happen! Arsenal have first refusal and they won't refuse it for him to go to a rival! even barca accept a bid Arsenal still have first refusal and can still take him for 25 million

21.) 15 Jul 2013
From what I have been reading on numerous sites is an initial fee of £25 mil with add ons taking the fee to an est £27. 5 which it looks like will be accepted :)
Dean1210

22.) 15 Jul 2013
Excuse my neglegence, but doesn't a bid mean that we've spoken with Barca about a possible transfer, and even spoken to his agent? Surely something must have been discussed with someone?

23.) 15 Jul 2013
Here's a prediction. United will put bids in for fabregas, despite having said he has no intention of leaving.

We'll then see them go after gundogan, and they will bid similar amounts.
The trick will be that the owners never had any intention of signing fabregas, because he actually costs money. Its quite possible the same was true with thiago. These are illusionary targets, designed to fool fans into believing that the club are being ambitious.
Gundogan will be signed because the windfall of merchandising revenue will pay back the transfer cost within a year. The player will also continue to make more merchandising profit thereafter, - profits that will be sucked into black hole's of debt.

24.) 15 Jul 2013
Dan, it's called positive thinking. Something desperately short supply around here right now.

Thorne

25.) 15 Jul 2013
So someone tweets and its 100%? just like Thiago was yeah?

26.) 15 Jul 2013
The payback clause to Arsenal means that Barca would want a lot more than this bid if its true. No way they will take a hit on him after such a short period. No its another let's make a bid knowing we have no chance but it keeps the season ticket sales moving along for our wonderful owners.
Anybody know Paul Scholes phone number

27.) 15 Jul 2013
Fabregas has asked Barcelona to consider the bid. If this is true then its good news and don't start the Arsenal rubbish having first option on him, and how he will join them. If Arsenal wanted him they would have bid for him by now.

Andyp MUFC

28.) 15 Jul 2013
Surely his agent has been spoke to and man u must have had the green light to make a bid eh sydney

dave

29.) 15 Jul 2013
Everton fan, I can't see it happening because I'm sure I read an interview Cesc gave over the summer where he said how hard he worked to be at his drean club so why would he leave after 2 years.

Don't get my wrong, would be a great signing but I think the initial offer is too low to be accepted. Just like Baines.

Ben

30.) 15 Jul 2013
Nobody but the media ever said we were interested in Thiago but everyone was convinced he would sign, now we have a genuine offer placed for Fabregas no one believes HE will sign. These are more than likely the same ones who believed RVP was just a pipe dream too. Some people are stuck in such a negative rut I wonder how you ever enjoy your football.

31.) 15 Jul 2013

I don't think I have ever read so much nonsense in one post ;)

Sydney!

32.) 15 Jul 2013
The difference here is that we have actually made bid, which was never reported with Thiago, so the interest is known. DO you people really seriously think we are making a bid as a PR exercise, really?
Interestingly the Barca fans certainly don't seem to be very keen on Fabregas at all. They all would have preferred Thiago to stay and are really not bothered about Fabregas at all. I don't see him wanting to move at all to be honest and I would be surprised if Barcelona allowed a second top midfielder leave in the same window. if they did however and he was semi forced out, a possibility perhaps?

33.) 15 Jul 2013
Maybe the Manchester United offer is Fabregas having his favoured midfield role and not being played out of position like he is at Barcelona. Neither club has yet to comment so I'd say see what happens over the next few days, we will probally all know more when Moyes does the interviews in Sydney.

34.) 15 Jul 2013
Fabregas will not join United! First of all he doesn't want to leave Barcelona, second of all if he is surplus ( Which he isn't ) he will go back to Arsenal! Totally sickened over the Thiago transfer, I give up on a CM at this stage! We;'ve needed 1 maybe even 2 for how many seasons now? I Give up!

35.) 15 Jul 2013
No one on here knows what will happen. if utd get a bid accepted for fab then who knows what will happen but he has said on video he only ever wants to play for arsenal and barca but unless one of you is moyes or someone big at united YOU DON'T KNOW. reports are reports but until I see it on video coming from moyes then i'm happy reading that we have bid for a player that utd need and I think will improve the midfield.

37.) 15 Jul 2013
Lets face facts. no so called superstar wants to sign for Moyes. Different story if Fergie had still been in charge. Moyes is not that well known amongst foreign players. Get used to mid table finishes for a few years untillMoyes makes a name for himself. Or gets the sack

Rock the red

38.) 15 Jul 2013
Come on Moyes sign him up

39.) 15 Jul 2013
The Gundogan post makes no sense. Why would merchandising for Gundogan cover his fee, but not for Fabregas? Could we not do exactly the same with regards merchandising for both? How would Fabregas cost money, yet Gundogan wouldn't?

Also, can I have some of whatever you're smoking?

40.) 15 Jul 2013
Arsenal fan, you won't get fabregas. Trust me there's no way he will join when arsene wenger is still managing. NO WAY.

Your bid is under Barcelona's valuation for fabregas anyway. So it will be rejected.

41.) 15 Jul 2013
Ben I agree the offer is too low but I think united will offer 35m and it will be accepted, he may not want to leave Barca but if they accept the offer he will have to swallow his pride and leave. I have no doubt Moyes will bring in at least one world class CM because it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where the weaknesses are.

42.) 15 Jul 2013
A few months ago a well respected journalist (can't remember his now at present) said that off camera, fabrigas was asked who he would join in the prem. mapparently he replied the only other club I would consider, other than arsenal would be Man United!

Lets see what happens boys!

43.) 15 Jul 2013
I'd asume (as a couple of posters have pointed out) that we have sounded him out about a move before making a bid? If he seems interested then a bid is made. I would have thought this is how most transfer business is done. I may be wrong.

It could also be Barca leaking the bid out to see what their fans think? May be thinking too much into it but has to be considered?

Let me know what you guys think! Everyones opinion is welcome, and as none of us actually know, everyones opinion is as valid as the next person (whether we agree or not!). let's not slaughter people for actually having their own view as if we all thought the same then it would be boring!

44.) 15 Jul 2013
I can't see Arsenal competing with us for this.

Arsenal *supposedly* have a big budget this summer, but I expect that most of that is set aside for specific targets. They will not disregard established targets and use the money to bring back Fabregas simply out of sentimentality, and to stop us getting him.

I also don't think he'd go back anyway, now he's got that taste of winning silverware, not unless they could really compete again, and even with real investment, that's not happening this year.

If Barca accept a bid, I think he will probably sign. Only problem is that xavi and ineista are getting on, so Thu May not want to sell when they'll need replacements for those two in the next few years, unless they have a buy-back clause for Thiago.

So this journalist is so well respected he's told something off the record and still reveals it?

46.) 17 Jul 2013
Somebody said, 'Cesc Fabregas doesn't hold down a place at barca, why wouldn't he come?'First of all Cesc Fabregas, while he is a good player has never held down a place at any club and dats including Arsenal and got fed up, and done everything in his power to get back to barca to enjoy the comforts of his home town. He has been quoted saying, he has worked too hard to get back to barca to leave. he loves it there, he is a fan and its where he grew up, and not only that he would have a better chance of getting into the barca team more regularly, while xavi and iniesta are reaching retirement.
