some spanish Journo reporting he has spoken to herrera this morning and the deal is not going to happen as united have made it clear that economically it is too expensive.

He goes on to mention the taxes as reason for the deal not being viable and refers to the Martinez deal where Bayern used a tx consultant to work out a deal with the IRS but in this case they believe there is no time to find a solution with the Tax authorities.

1.) 01 Sep 2013
If this is true is just just sums up the amateur transfer business of utd this window. Woodward is making our club look embarrassing with low offers and running out of time to complete deals. If they fail to sign anyone this window I feel sorry for DM, he's not in control of the transfer activity and has on more than 1 occasion expressed his desire to add to our curretn squad. let's hope Ed has a few tricks up his sleeve but I seriously doubt it.

2.) 01 Sep 2013
Quite right, they have run out of time because of their amateurish approach. Even with more time, I seriously doubt whether they would have got it sorted. Other sides had their deals sorted weeks ago, what we were doing then? Liverpool currently 1-0 up. I won't be all that sorry if we lose this game - it might focus a few minds.

3.) 01 Sep 2013
Agree 100%. Everyone knows about Bilbao and their way of dealing with things and release clauses and tx related issues. Let's wait and see what happens, he will be getting some tasty stuff from fans come tuesday morning:)

david moyes: ''these was our best performance of the season'' this guy is a joke we need 3 4 players asap,
lets get rid of gigs, cleverly who is not so cleaver, young and ''our best midfielder'' carrick who can only pass backwords who can moyes say that he is very happy with the performance against a modest liverpool, all u united fans just be real with yourselfs and let's admit the problems we will face this season if no changes happen, thanks

6.) 01 Sep 2013
We won't sign any1 as we just seen out best performance of the season according to mr david moyes

7.) 01 Sep 2013
I can't believe after the defeat to Liverpool Moyes said I'm more than happy with the players I have got that is the best we've played all season I'm I the only one concerned this is a joke we need signings now

8.) 01 Sep 2013
@ManUnited4Ever,
Carrick? I believe giggs only started because Nani and Kagawa are not match fit. However I agree with Cleverly. I would love to see chance given to Zaha now though. can't see any spark in the wingers.

9.) 01 Sep 2013
Yes carrick he creats a chance every 5-6 matches and 70% of Man U fans think
That his the one I would rate scholes 10 times fitter and better then him so maybe we need to call scholes back

10.) 01 Sep 2013
Carrick, Cleverly should not be Manchester United starters If wome people think they are then comment after meeting the big teams thy should be playing for westham or some little team Fellaini is better than all the midfielders we have

11.) 01 Sep 2013
If we don't sign any1 we are going to be
In a very bad situation this season, don't even consider C league because its out of our hands, worst players today that we should get rid of. Are:
Cleverly
Young
Giggs
Carrick
Evra
Valencia. The only thing he has its speed apart from that not to much
We don't need this players let's get some box to box players we can't connect midfield with defence at all and we never to through the middle of the pich why do we always passed back or sideways we should try to be a bit more direct if moyes can't se this then I predict that he won't knish this season in charge of man utd

12.) 01 Sep 2013
Carrick has been one of the best last season. Did you not watch last season? More successful forward passes from Carrick than other playmakers includeing xavi etc. not saying he's as good as xavi, but what you said is rubbish.

Problem is that we don't have anyone good to partner him. Cleverly is ok but only as a backup.

We need someone like Herrera to improve our 1st 11 alongside Carrick.

13.) 01 Sep 2013
@ManUnited4Ever,
I think you are running with your preconceptions mate. You say "worst players today" I think Evra was really good and RVP would be in that list. Again based on "today's game".

14.) 01 Sep 2013
Your stats are ring how can u even compare him with xavi lol I have watchd last season if you think hi is a good creative midfielder how come he don't create no chances, every creative midfielder even in there worst form or day they will create at least 1 chance in 90 when was the last time carrick created something?

15.) 01 Sep 2013
I agree Manchester United 4ever apart from Carrick half of them are not Manchester United quality

16.) 01 Sep 2013
He hasn't got the confidence to run past players or do any runs let's adited we don't have 1 quality midfielder that's the problem and don't forget we are man utd, it is a big problem so let's wake up from this spell that gives lots of the fans and the club the impression that we are a force in Europe, spurs look better the us and that's a problem!

17.) 01 Sep 2013
I was trying not to rant throughout this entire window but Utd need to get it together. Everyone knows we need new central midfielders but woodward need to make some deals and quickly with all the funding utd has they should be able to reinvest in the squad. Herrera or ozil should be done by now the midfield is horrible. I don't agree with all the criticism of carrick he is the only constant mid that we have and does work well just doesn't have the passing creativity to take over games. Hopeful the lose to liverpool will cause woodward to get in gear and start to get deals done.

18.) 01 Sep 2013
I didn't say he was a creative force, I said he had more forward passes, in direct contradiction to your accusation tHat he always passes backwards.

Carrick is a good midfielder, but no, he is not the creative force we need.

No one is arguing about our midfield not being good enough, but don't sling factually incorrect criticism at our only decent midfielder and expect not to get called on it.

19.) 01 Sep 2013
Mark my words, if we do not make any midfield signings before the deadline passes we will have a massive struggle to even finish in the top four. With the exception of Carrick our midfield is abysmal! Look at today, Cleverly, Giggs and Young? What top sides would those three even make the squad of let alone first eleven? They are not creative, they are not goalscorers and are not a physical presence. so what are they? Giggs is a true legend but is nearly 40 the other two just aren't good enough! I will support United forever but right now I feel let down. I personally plow a lot of money into United's coffers and feel I have the right to whinge so please United let the moths out of the wallet and dig deep, whatever it costs like the other top teams have.

20.) 01 Sep 2013
I've been saying all along this season. We won't buy anyone of note.?Because no o e outside of the premiership has heard of Moyes or Woodentop. Still playing Giggs at. 39. Fantastic servent for our club, but come on Moyes he his 39 for Gods sake, does he play because he picks himself being a coach now. Zaha over not so cleverly every time.
I'll give Moyes one season before he is hounded out. He, s the manager not the tea lady.

21.) 01 Sep 2013
Like a lot of people on here, I thought today might be a wake-up call, but after hearing Moyes interview you have to seriously wonder if anybody at that club can see what's happening. No disrespect to Arsenal but I really hope we don't end up in a similar position where we either can't or won't spend the cash to attract the best.

At start of window people were talking about Ronaldo etc(ok, we knew that would never happen), but now I think I'd be grateful for Fellaini, not that I rate him, but compared to what we have at the min he might actually be an improvement!.

Spurs sell Bale and re-invest in improving the overall squad, you have to ask why we didn't do same when selling Ronnie, no doubt straight into Glazers pockets. Moyes and Woodward are Yes men, we'll have to get used to that until someone wakes up and has the Ba. s to do what needs doing, I.e a clear out of sub standard players and large investment in quality.

Charla

22.) 01 Sep 2013
Er, Rock mate, Zaha is a winger, Clevs is a central midfielder, saying "Zaha over not so cleverly every time." is, well, not so clever.

Seriously guys, we all know the central midfield DESPERATELY needs an addition or two, but that doesn't mean none of the current midfielders belong here. Carrick is solid and Cleverly is pretty good, just not good enough to be first choice.

As for not making the top 4, that's a bit premature.

City spent 100m without actually getting better players than they already had.

Chelsea spent well, added a couple of good players to improve their squad.

Spurs have bought well, but will need time to gell.

Liverpool have strengthened but just aren't good enough over a full season.

Arsenal are in the same boat as us reinforcement wise.

Will we win the league? I doubt it without decent new signings.

Will we drop out of the top 4? Even less likely than winning the title with the current squad.

23.) 01 Sep 2013
Anyone who slags Carrick off has not got a clue. 7 seasons he has been at the heart of the midfield, 5 x champs, lost 1 by a point and 1 on GD. Cleverly and Young were awful today, especially Young, he gave the ball away so many times it was a joke. We need what we have since Scholes retired the first time, a partner for Carrick. I would love Ozil but just don't see it happening, I don't blame Moyes, he is playing it with a straight bat. Woodward, whoever he is, is making us look stupid. In fact it looks like were going to pay 26 mill for Curly, we could have got him for 23 mill with his buyout clause, very poor! I am worried.

24.) 01 Sep 2013
Yes I have to say right from our preseason games I haven't had any confidence in Moyes at all!And today's selection against liverpool wasn't making me feel any more enthusiastic for the season ahead!Giggs is a true legend but I'm feeling he's got too much of a voice amongst it, and picks himself!he shouldn't be starting!neither should Cleverly, welbeck or young!I don't like the way utd are playing at the moment it seams we are far too depended on our defensive duties because our passing and movement is dreadful and we are so predicable in attack its demoralising!Welbeck has potential, but let's be honest he is no goalscorer and is very limited, he is a squad player!Chico should of started, as he made a difference when he came on by stretching they're defence!yes I hear you all saying its his first game since last season, but he should be ready!Cleverly and Carrick are far too slow in midfield, they're movement and passing were extremely negative!midfield is a major issue here and I don't see use winning anything if we don't address this!i also feel Fellaini will not improve this as he is not any quicker in the brain or in the legs or any better than then what we have!is Kagawa injured?not on the bench
today!nani did look rusty but created more and looked more effective than Giggs and young did the whole game, and i'm hoping he stays fit.I don't
Know why Moyes has said we played our best football from the start of the season because I and a lot of close utd fans thought it was dreadful!we had a lot of Poseidon but looked very predictable and did very little with it!Maybe Moyes is way in over his head.I could understand this mentality of hang in there for the first 20mins and don't concede a goal!Right away that puts us on the back foot, its negative and puts the players in the wrong mindset of, oh we need to hang on here because if we don't liverpool will destroy us!this is not the utd way, maybe the everton way.we go out to attack and to have them
worrying, not the other way round!
I have absolutely no confidence in Moyes or Woodword whatsoever, in his team line up, his tactics or there transfer activity!hope I'm wrong but I don't see them bringing anyone in of real real quality! Its a tough job for Moyes and if we are still playing the way we are in mid season and are 3rd or fourth in the table, Itl be very very hard for us to get back to winning ways!Time will tell.

25.) 01 Sep 2013
I've said all along that we do have a great squad but based on today's performance we just don't seem to have that cutting edge. Possibly mixed with poor tactics. Why the hell kagawa doesn't get a sniff is beyond belief as he would really open up teams with our away counter attacking play. I really want moyes to do well but today I've had my first doubts on his style. playing too safe and still getting nothing from the game. If we were to go 1 nil up then bring giggs on fair enough but please. I for one will be relieved come 11 o clock Monday to put an end to all the false reports. At least then we can get on with what will be a very tough season and still get behind our team!

26.) 01 Sep 2013
Thorne,
Mate, I think Cleverly has got enough chance to prove himself. If Playing alongside carrick (who spreads the ball around so well) he cannot get into space and create chances, I think he will never improve. Regarding Zaha I was not referring to play zaha at cleverly's role but at our wingers, who to be honest can't run at defenders and neither could cross the ball

27.) 01 Sep 2013
Don't get me wrong, i'm not Cleverly's biggest fan either, but he's ok as a backup option.

Having said that, we looked great a couple of years ago when Ando was briefly fit and the two of them really clicked, so maybe Cleverley would be better alongside a partner who doesn't like to sit deep so much, but gets forward and moves around more. Just a thought.
