It's looking likely De Gea will be sold and who doesn't blame the lad? He wants to go win trophies and he won't be doing that here for a long time.

I just hope we replace him with the correct man, the first team is currently lacking leaders and the last thing we want to do is bring in a young keeper again. Unless that young keeper was a player like Butland who looks like a real talent right now.

Maybe going for an older experienced player would be much more beneficial to us during our current status. Someone who can keep the defenders in control and is vocal on the pitch. Look at Van Der Sar and Schmeichel who both took no S*** and always kept their defense on their toes.

I'm not too sure on who's available for that position though. I remember Ed002 mentioning Handanovic during the De Gea fiasco, I wonder if he would be the man for us?

I would like to know if anyone here has seen him much or have any other suggestion of a keeper under this kind of description?

I think it's obvious that De Gea would be leaving next summer if Real came back for him. He would already be gone if they hadn't pulled the plug last summer.

Personally, I would like us to go all out for Butland. He looks a real talent, and could potentially spend his career here. I think a lot will depend upon who is managing us then.

In the PL there are a number of young keepers that might be worth looking at with Forster, Lloris, Butland and the emotional pull of Schmeichel. All performing well over the past year or so.
On the continent i am less sure but I know previously there have been mentions of Handanovic and Oblak.
We should do all we can to keep De Gea but none of us want the drawn out saga of last year, hopefully everything will be done a lot better and with the new contract signed i am sure a more agreeable fee will be needed.

Butland got potential but his he mentally ready to be United no 1 now or next season

The safe option would be to ask for Navas as part of the deal, he would be a pair of safe hands and a short term option until we get a new keeper long term

Another option would be to go for Lloris but we basically be paying De Gea fee on him as Levy likes to get full value on his players

Hopefully we keep De Gea but he his Spanish, his girlfriend Spanish, I think we be fighting to keep him again in the summer.

To the person who said Handanovic before, he a good option, solid keeper, think he slightly underrated generally, would be a solid short term option for us, wouldn't cost us too much as well.

Lloris, Butland, Sommer or Navas.

I really hope your wrong but i doubt it sadly, any ideas of who we will look at?
I take it he's off to Madrid, but would he face a backlash from atletico fans?

I think Barcelona would go for him aswell, again Bravo or ten Stegen are decent keepers so I would ask for one of those in return

I think Barcelona and Real Madrid will get into a bidding war for him in the summer, if we definitely going to lose him I would encourage a bidding war.

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona has no interest in DDG.}

I thought when he signed the new deal it might be a bit of a Ronaldo type thing where he'd stay another year and get us a good fee.

For replacements i'd look butland, Forster, lloris. Irs time to start looking within the league again.

As a spurs fan and knowing the lloris situation. You've probably more chance of the proverbial rocking horse stuff that getting lloris OR kane for that matter. But good luck anyway.
