I see Antonio Valencia has headed home to join LDU Quito. I enjoyed watching him especially in his earlier years at United. Honest, hard-working player, led by example. Stopped beating his man and crossing the ball in his later years, but never shirked a tackle.

His bad injury shook his confidence and he was never the same after that. He seemed wary to take on a player and his crossing completely changed.

Can’t knock hit effort and loyalty but we should have moved him on years ago.

Solid if not spectacular player well exploited by SAF. His arrival to play on the right side seemed to correspond with the deterioration in Nani, who never seemed as happy on the left. Many a left back will miss being rapped on the legs and torso by his ill-timed crosses.
