Does anyone think that DM is putting far too much effort in trying to sign a world class (marque) signing. There are a lot players out there who would really improve our midfield some relatively cheap and some not. I wouldn't mind spending a whole transfer window pursuing a player if we already had bought 2-3 players to improve the 1st team.

Exactly what I said before AJH decided to flaunt his sarcasm skills at me. The 'greater than 30 million' aren't all we should be looking to sign.
