I saw a few posts on building for the future. This is LVG's last job, and he has about 3 years left. Would he really sacrifice his personal ambitions just to build for the future? His quotes say otherwise. Imo he will go for players who will be up for it now and maybe a few for the future depending on availability. Its the guys last job and i'm sure he'd want to go out on a high

3 year contract doesn't mean much. I wouldn't be surprised if he does well that the deal is extended, just depends on performance and how ready Giggs is.

If he intends to retire in 3 years then I would imagine legacy issues will come into it, but a 3 year plan focussing on a few older heads (Robben) isn't a bad idea, as we need to get back to the top quick and waiting for youth or unproven to step up could be too much of a gamble. A short term fix with half an eye on up and coming is sensible. In 3 years Janujaz, Powell, DDG, Smalling, Jones, Rafael, Shaw will all be solid and hopefully better, we can then get back to adding a couple of young players and a couple of big signings each season, rather than constant overhauls. Obviously over young talent like Lawrence, Wilson etc will benefit from training with world class talent.

I disagree, most of the targets we are linked with are younger. We are loosing a lot of experience in the dressing room so he may want one or two older heads in there. We are linked with Depay, him and Januzaj will be on the wings for years. In the middle Kroos (24), Jordy Clasie (22). The centre backs we are linked with are also of a decent age personally I am not too worried about him loading the squad with 30 somethings as the board wouldn't allow it as they will have a clear strategy (you would think).

Beast,
Coming from the horses mouth, he said it was either united/spurs or retirement. So I don't expect him to hang around more than 3 years.
However it would be a bonus if he builds for the future as well or buys players who would be ready in a year or two at max, like Clasie.

Its not just up to lvg though is it.
It would look like the club have decided to buy shaw and kroos not lvg. Would the club want to blow top cash on 30 + year old players with no chance of a sell on and knowing they would then have to shell out more cash in a couple of years to replace them.

It would seem the club look like spending a large amount of cash this summer I am sure the plan will be to spend it with an eye on building fir the future.

Jred, I don't think we see ourselves as a selling club and if we want success but the right player is old then the selling on fee shouldn't be an issue that comes in to it.

Fresh
If you think a business like united isn't run with that in mind your nuts maybe not a rule but it will be an issue.
Also a player at 25 for 30 mill is much better deal than a 30 year old for 20.
Its not a game its real life.
