star paper saying we've just launched a £47.5m bid for Vidal. Ed002 if you have time can you confirm whether it's bull or not. Thanks

{Ed002's Note - The amount is wrong. See previous answers.}

Hopefully we have made the bid, and we can get this deal wrapped up. Vidal is the player who could improve us the most barring Ronaldo or messi imo. However I worry his agent is using us for a new contract!

Thanks Ed taking from what you said on your previous posts we may have already spoken to the agent also if the amount is wrong i'm guessing that means the bid has been placed? hopefully this whole thing will leave you in peace by the end of the week

I really hope we find out one way or another today. If the player wants a move to United then I can see no reason why we can't force the move through. If he doesn't then we'll have to move on. Either way I think this needs to be resolved as soon as possible so as to not miss out on other targets.

On a side note - I really hope talks of Di Maria and Cavani are wide of the mark. I don't see how either would fit into our team (we're having enough trouble trying to accommodate Mata, RVP, Rooney, Kagawa and Januzaj) and it seems they'd cost close to £50m each. I know it's not 'our' money so to speak; but I think it could be better spent elsewhere (would BD be able to turn down a £40m bid for Reus or Hummels, for example).

Caolan,
The agent fee Utd would pay for the transfer is likely be significantly more than what he would receive by renewing his contract with Juve. If Vidal wants to leave, his agent will make it so.

Redseven, I agree with your points about Cavani / Hummels. But I don't really get it when you say we would struggle to fit DiMaria in, then seem to suggest we should go for Reus. Seeing as they can both play wide left or CAM, how does one fit but not the other?

Betty -

I agree that we'd face similar problems fitting Reus in - but imo he's a much better player who would cost less and demand lower wages.

I think/hope that we'll be playing more than one formation next season so there may well be space for another wide player at the club - but for the amount of games they would be getting I don't see how there could be any justification for the fee/wages it would take to bring Di Maria to the club.

Only just seen what you posted earlier Ed002 thanks for the informative reply.

So the amount is wrong but I'm correct in saying the bid has been made? Thanks again.

{Ed002's Note - The offer is in the hands of a third party, and my understanding is that it is not the only offer for the player. Once the player makes it clear he wishes to leave, and the financial implications of that have already been made clear to his representatives, then I would expect his future to be resolved by Saturday.}

002, found it, can I ask if the other offer is a worry for MU? In your opinion? Thanks as always.

{Ed002's Note - It will be a worry but I suspect that Manchester United can sort something out by the weekend - there does remain that other dependency I explained.}
