A few positives on the Wolfsburg game:

1. Martial has really opened up our attacking play. He can hold the ball, escape his man, and then his ability to go right at players can really unsettle defenses. We are much more dynamic with him, and it has been great to watch.

2. Martial stretching the defense seems to be bringing out the best in Mata, who now has more space to play. Before we saw a compact defense able to press Mata, now we see him finding more space lately, where his technical ability and imagination can shine.

3. Blind deserves credit once again. His speed of thought means a clearance is often played right to feet, so we can counter quickly. Notice how often our counterattacks start with Blind knowing where to clear the ball ahead of time. His speed of thought often makes up for his lack of foot speed.

4. Still so impressed with how well-schooled a defender Darmian is. When you notice the passes he denies, and the way he directs a dribbler, you start to realize just how smart a defender he is. Not a bad crosser with the left either!

5. The defense looks so much calmer with De Gea behind them. Back passes as well as big saves from big Dave.

True. Special mention to Smalling. Really coming on in leaps and bounds this season

is there a better cb so far in the League? I think he's been stellar tbh

I think Smalling & Stones have been the two stand-outs this season. Both should start for England on form.
