I wanted to throw my hat into the ring quickly with all of this megabit be v positive nonsense.

Some of you have said it last been 50 games we should be better, some have said that only 7 players remain from the team that won the title last.

All valid points.

As someone who has built several businesses I just want to make one thing clear. Patience is demanded. I couldn't care less if we win more, play better football, etc. I'm only interested in some form of progression as a team which is what we are all seeing.

As a club we were a mess, we needed to take baby steps in order to build back up to what we are, what we were.

36 months ago teams would come to Old Trafford and not just win but come with an attitude that they were better than us - United were weak.

Now Manchester City come to old Trafford and don't show much attacking threat.

They played two holding midfielders and didn't really play anything innovative going forward. That's how they set out to play.

So I just want to ask this, can we please just appreciate the gravity of the clubs previous situation and how we've moved forward.

I don't care if you don't like it, I don't care if you to like it. What I care about is watching something grow regardless of how quickly or slowly that may be.

Have a wonderful week.

Jose

People have little perception of the mess we got into after a truly hopeless transition after SAF. Your post has my agreement.

I spoke to a big City fan today and whilst he said it was a better result for them he didn't argue when I said they showed us a lot of fear and respect, something they haven't done for a while.

I agree with most of that, would city have played with 2 holding midfielders if silva and aguero were fit.
They were happy to set up for a draw cause them two were missing, so for me we should have been going for 3 points there not happy to take a draw.
No shot on target for us in the first half.
Things will get better but for me we have to get at teams more.

If city had aguero and silva, they would have had a right go at us.

{Ed004's Note - Firstly I'd like to point out a draw against City is a good result home or away. However, your point about those players being available and would City then have attacked more is interesting. Would it have also slightly benefited Utd? Assuming those players are there City would have had Yaya sitting deeper in midfield and no doubt we would have had plenty more opportunities to go at City as I think they wouldn't have been as strong defensively. Smalling and Jones have been in great form recently and both are full backs were excellent at the weekend. Just another way of looking at it. I'm pretty sure Silva and Aguero played last yr at Old Trafford...}

Top notch post, Jose. I think people either don't realize or forget what it takes to build a team, particularly one we can be proud of for years to come. Tremendous progress has been made, though the failures of Falcao and especially ADM, coupled with our having had to move for Memphis before he was ready, set our attack back a bit. Once better attackers are brought in, this team has a chance to compete and compete well on multiple fronts. We are a much, much more disciplined, competitive side than we were even a year ago. The future looks bright to my eye, but much patience will be required.

Ed004, Nice attempt at trying to educate Schmidfield with a good point but there is not much hope there.

{Ed004's Note - I wasn't trying to catch him out just offering a different perspective}

Ed4, quite possibly. Suppose we'll never know now. Shame we didn't have a go at them, but I also understand that neither manager wanted to lose the match so they can continue momentum for next few matches.
