A quick question, where ideally would you play Morgan Schniederlin, sitting in and so have us sign a creative MF or sign a holding player (Kante, Carvalho) and release Morgan further forward?

Box to box for sure, didn't he mostly do that southampton and he looked a much better player for it. He could be a great presence in the box, especially because of his height, which we lack in general.

Morgan and Herrera as the box to box players each side of a holding midfielder. Morgan was at his best box to box at Southampton.

He looks lost sitting in front on the back 4. That is not his position. He needs to be on the move. For a guy with his engine, it's criminal that he is just sitting in front of the defence.

I think morgans had an okay season, not great but not awful either.

In reality he's not an lvg player as his best qualities are intercepting and tackling which were very much on show at southampton. But considering we have so much negative possession his qualities aren't showcased as much. This is why lately carrick has been favoured over him as carricks passing ability is way above schneiderlins and with lvgs tactics he needs someone to pull the strings from deep.

I think his best position is at holding midfield. Jose would like him if he gets the chance to work with him.

dont think either morgan or herrera are good enough, would rather play fosu mensah and sign kante and a creative mf like james.

I agree with Beady; I'm not convinced about Morgan or Herrera. They are decent players but not top level and so therefore have no place at Man Utd.

I'd also like to see Fosu Mensah get some game time in midfield so we can get some idea as to whether he can hack it there.

this came up on guardian football website a few months back and plenty of southampton fans were writing how they were astounded on how he had regressed . They said him and wanyama worked pefectly both just going forward and creating, one holding and interchanging, chopping and changng throughout the game same as kante -drinkwater do now .

As I ve said a few times I was delighted to get him - would like to see Vidal alongside him, and Fosu Mensah getting a chance of course but i'm reluctant to rely on a kid for more than 10 -15 games in such a tough league no mater how good same way as Martial should get a few games off if we could have afforded to drop him.

Andrew,

We are going to have a very small squad next season if we get rid of all the decent players and only keep the top level ones. Did Fergie have squads of 25 top level players? Or did he get the best out of decent players that were surrounded by top level / luxury type players?

DDG will get pretty loanly.

Agree with Beader on Herrera
From what I've seen, he is not strong enough, gets knocked off the ball too easily, pulls out of tackles which can be dangerous and he hasn't progressed from last season. Morgan however, has imo, been mediocre because of the role he has been given. Both as well as several other players have either not been used to their best ability or not used at all. Still maintain that any player in front of smalling and blind would not be confident moving forward leaving those 2 exposed, a good positional but slow out of position player and a wrestler .

Tend to agree Cookyman - very depressing looking at the MEN when they show clips of "on this day in 1994 or whenever" etc etc as this week they showed the title clinching win at wigan 2008 on 1oth May I think it said, in the pouring rain -about 7 minutes of it and quite a few times utd were opened up but Vidic/ wes brown / ferdinand just mopped up. UTD piling forward and getting caught on the break and yet you never expected them to get past the defence -even if we did look a bit of a mess at times - as you say there is no confidence now . so we end up with a back 7 not a back 4.

Yes scholesgingergenius that would be too simple - I didn't see a lot of them together but I do like Vidal -obviously wanyama is having another pretty good season for saints again.
