Who on here would have been happy with us buying Van Dijk?

Probably most of us but if reports are true or even close to true, would we have been happy to pay £60m for him? i'm not so sure with that valuation.

I think he could be a great Partner for Bailly for years to come he gets his head on everything in both boxes ( we miss that from our set pieces) is fast and strong, distribution is decent too-

The money issue is always the big question . will 55-60 mill seem expensive in 2 years from now? If we sold Jones or Smalling and Rojo and bought Vdijk and Lindleof 100 mill outlay is crazy money -but its a net spend of 70 mill (this window) for a defence of Bailly, vDIJK, lINDLEOF . I don't know, is that value for money?

Morata, Mbappe, Rodriquez, Lukaku, Mendy . value for money? Subjective I guess.

I think he's the best CB out there right now and he could form a formidable partnership with Bailly for 7+ years. The thought of those two as a CB pairing is mouth watering, so much pace, power, height and athleticism between them.

For £60m? I wouldn't really care. The money in the game is ridiculous now so I don't see why we should be bothered about it. The price is the price so if the club want to pay it, that's up to them.

Looks like he's Scouse-bound if reports are to be believed.

He would be a good signing. Personally I rate him highly and hoped we would have signed him. Nevertheless £60m for a CB is a massive outlay. If it was £30/ 40m then I'd be more concerned we haven't looked at him more seriously but we could get Lindelof and another player for that money.

Not for me. Always been overrated and personally think there are better options. Jose knows defenders more than any position - whoever we buy will be awesome and it won't be VVD and Liverpool won't be world beaters with him either. Talk about over hyping a player! Never worth 50, 60 whatever million. Liverpool is his level and that's why he's going there.

Shot on eric. But prices are outrageous. i'm not sure what vvd does that warrants that sort of fee. He is no jap stam or vidic that's for sure. Good oh the ballbut often caught out positionally. Has good attributes but some glaring defficiences to be the most expensive defender in the world.
