Seems many are losing their marbles over Ronaldo, £100 plus million?

The guy is an all time great, possibly the greatest now he led Portugal to glory and Madrid to more European cups. I was privileged to be at his first game for us, very special. However reality is that she waits for no one and he is 32, with a previous knee problem, so for me a risk would be £30 to £40m with some good commercial activity to back it up. Any more than that is madness. Mbappe is the next king and we would fund his transfer based on sentiment, we are a sentimental lot. Maybe it's me but Ron had chances to come back and didn't take them so now he can push for a transfer at a decent price or good luck in Paris.

We may be falling for the Madrid sleight of hand, look over here at Ron whilst we ignore others. Personally I like the look of Belotti but we should not get distracted. Ronaldo is the king but has maybe a year or two left. Find the next one, an MBappe unless the price is realistic.

Couldn't agree more Red Man. We should be looking at signing players in their prime or players with potential who could be top players and are at the right age. In any case I see his situation at Madrid being resolved or him ending up at PSG.

I don't think Mbappe wants to join United and feel that he has his heart set on moving to Madrid. But the thought of financing Real’s deal for the next superstar by buying one of their players who is only going to decline, is 32 and will have no sell on value at a ridiculous price makes me feel a bit sick. Even buying Morata at an inflated price would make me nervous but I could live with it due to his age and potential and his best years being ahead of him. He will have a sell on value if it doesn't work out and we need to cut our losses. I prefer Belotti over Morata but he has just had one good season and Torino’s valuation is quite outrageous.

Clearly Jose had a plan to rebuild for next year and challenge for the title and it didn't include Ronaldo. We should believe in that and execute that strategy instead of going on this wild goose chase of Ronaldo. Sticking to Jose’s list of targets will allow us to strengthen in all areas of the field. CDM, LB, RB are more pressing concerns right now imo. I would rather we spent an extra 5-10mil each to push deals over the line for say Nelson Semedo, Benjamin Mendy/ Danny Rose and Fabinho/ Eric Dier than invest all the budget on Ronaldo and leave the other areas not fixed.

We can always sign a Griezmann next summer to get that final special piece of the jigsaw right. I hope we get a summer of Lindelof, Belotti/ Morata, Dier/ Fabinho, Semedo, Mendy/ Rose and maybe Perisic to build a solid foundation to the squad instead of chasing Ronaldo.

I agree with most of that red faith. As much as i would love to see ronaldo at united.
Your list of potential ins i agree with although i'm not a big dier supporter i think there are better players than dier we can target.
Also i think we need a striker.

Although one of the eds mentioned an attitude problem over a specific incident I would like us to go for Ambyadingdong from dortmund and hope JM can iron out his issues. It seems it a case of putting the money down and getting him, none of this posturing with Madrid or for Belotti .

In fact unrealistic as it is I would be pleased if we never did any business with Madrid for the foreseeable future, their cast offs are usually just that - not always but often and they know how to squeeze the money out of us.

would like to see us going after dembele bfbw. Not a lot of media coverage on the lad but better long term and a better fit imo.
