Considering our coach is completely delusional and that he is close to becoming as big an embarrassment to the club as ole was, what are people thoughts on his successor.
Eth is as good as gone. There is zero hope for him. Complete ostrich with his head in the sand.
No candidate is perfect as far as I'm concerned
They will reach have some baggage or professional trauma behind them.
For me the key is the ability the new guy has with working our new dof and team.
Alignment there from the start is a must, so it will be interesting to see what they decide.
Potter
De zerbi
Tuchel
Conte
These are the 3 names I suspect it will come down to. Although ed002 had a few other names on the list but I think a couple of them are going elsewhere.
Can't wait for a change of direction led from the top down.

So which are the three and which is the extra? ???.

I suspect an outsider. I have no grounds for that of course!

I just hope it’s someone with some balls.

ETH is not delusional, he did very well in his first season and has been unfortunate with injuries this season.

Also had to deal with the partial sale process throughout his whole tenure and subpar recruitment (which is party his fault no doubt but not helped by murtough and arnold in the first summer) .

I would like to see Tuchel come in as he is better with the media and man manager than ETH but wouldn't be against ETH staying for a third season.

I don’t think there is an outstanding candidate but the one who I definitely don’t want is Potter

He would be chewed up and spat out within 12 months

If he thought Chelsea was a goldfish bowl it ain’t nothing compared to Utd

My choice would be either Amorim or Simeone.

Agree with both sides really. he's had so much to deal with in terms of disruption and injuries. I genuinely don't think many could have done much more. He dealt with Ronaldo and Sancho pretty swiftly. It's obvious we needed a LB and CF, he'll know that more than anyone, but the club haven't obliged. Guess they're waiting for summer.
And yet it is a results game, and 11 defeats, many at home to frankly sides we would expect something against, is appalling. Some pretty underwhelming sides have literally taken us apart, particularly in midfield. I dread to think where we'd be if not for the emergence of Mainoo.
But, because it's fun to play along, why not.

Potter - really underwhelmed by this possibility based on the only two things we can go on - the Brighton era and the Chelsea one. How much did the brilliant background set-up of Brighton assist him, and how much did the woeful Chelsea one hinder him? How many in-game tactical moments of genius can I remember from Potter? Dunno if he's the man.
De zerbi - love this guy, although for all the brilliant results they've had a few shockers themselves.
Tuchel and Conte both scare me and are hot-headed. Just like everywhere else they've ever been, and just as with Mourinho, I'm pretty sure that after an initial bounce it'd go sour at some point.
Think Nagelsmann has to be in the chat. Available and (prior to EtH) seen as one of the best up and coming managers about not so long ago.
Amorim - don't know much about this chap but keeps coming up.

ETH does not help himself and comes across as delusional. I almost feel sorry for him.

“Rashy was dangerous” When? Watching a different game to most people pal.

“We were close to winning” Never in a month of Sundays. Nobody realistically expected to win that one.

“We are up for this game. I can smell it” What happened? Set up to defend and hope for the breaks against the best team in world at the moment. Was never going to work.

He asked Rashy if he had been touched! Seriously! He should have been tearing him a new one for being so soft and losing possession so far up the park when 1:1

Sadly I am now officially on the ETH out bandwagon. Clearly very much out of his depth.

Yes yes we have injuries galore, but there are teams out there with lesser players than our fringe players that have given City a better game and beaten us.

It comes down to heart and desire to play for the shirt and not the money.

Very frustrating year indeed! Do I know the answer? Not at all. I am only an idiot fan but I have seen enough to know it ain’t going to be right with ETH here.

Could very well be Potter because clearly liked by SJR and perhaps he thinks they can build just as good as team that was at Brighton and all work in Tandem, I would not judge anything on the Chelsea fiasco, would he be my choice, no, but least he will try play better football that’s more suited to EPL. and got to be a better man manager.

Hansi Flick would still be my choice, but looks like he heading elsewhere and don’t think he will suit the SJR way anyway, same as Simeone won’t, so can’t see neither of them.

Nagglesman, if your judging potter by Chelsea stint you have to judge Nagglesman by Munich stint, upset everybody, but like I said before too much
interference for anyone at Bayern.

Wild card could well be Ange from Tottenham, no doubting his ability as man manager and plays football the fans love and appears loved by everyone too….

For me anyone but ETH. For reasons I been saying for months and months.

Just hope it’s joined up thinking and a good management team is built. Plus att the coaches go, because they are not part of any solution and certainly not blameless in the fiasco we been watching.

Potter, Nagelsmann or maybe Amorim?

We were winning for a large part of the game.

Rash should have done better with 2 other golden chances in first 20 mins. And yes. Haaland missed 1.

Pull back on Rashford, not given. Other similar fouls given in game.

Ederson challenge is a stone wall penalty, borderline redcard.

We got beat by a better side. But going in on ten hag after that game is a little silly in my eyes. Rash was injured had to come off. Evans injured had to come off. We had nothing left on the bench to do anything. No striker, no leftback.

This squad is miles off that city team and we made a game of it. We still need to empty out the older players from this squad and start again around our younger players. Years time we are competitive again. If anyone thinks we get better by bringing in a new manager, unless you clear the players we will just delay how long it takes to get back to the top.

He is delusional dsg.
Have you been listening to him? Have you read his comments on rashford? On Antony? On how close we are to city?
Reminds me of ole.

Strangeways - I get your points, but is it fair to give Potter a free pass at Chelsea because of the turmoil there at the time, but not allow ten Hag a fair crack of the whip when/ if things stabilise at Utd?

13.) 04 Mar 2024
04 Mar 2024 16:01:03
One thing forgot to add spenno, a lot of the turmoil is of ETH own making….

14.) 04 Mar 2024
04 Mar 2024 16:05:06
Spenno do you think we will get a manager that's not failed anywhere?

15.) 04 Mar 2024

Is there such a thing Tumble, Pep or Klopp aside?

16.) 04 Mar 2024
04 Mar 2024 16:55:40
It is not out of the realms of possibility that we bring in someone out of left field with the new leadership group making the decisions. I am not sure what manager connections there are to City which Berrada may bring to the table, similarly with Ashworth should he come in (consensus is he likes Potter but this is heresay) .
I hope we are planning for the next move now and starting to have the relevant conversations if possible with managers. With the scousers, Barcelona, Bayern, possibly Newcastle on the look out it could be very competitive.

{Ed002's Note - Ashworth is very close to Potter, but he is not the recommendation of Ashworth.}

What turmoil is that then Strangeways?

18.) 04 Mar 2024
04 Mar 2024 17:12:02
How is ten hag responsible for the turmoil?

Does everyone on here want the players to run the club? Train when they want to. Turn up when they want to?

19.) 04 Mar 2024
04 Mar 2024 17:14:13
You could bring in pep or anyone else and soon as we have a couple of bad results certain idiots on here will be calling for a change and criticising his every move ???.

20.) 04 Mar 2024
04 Mar 2024 17:27:26
I thought klopp got relegated in Germany I could be wrong.
But that's my point spenno no matter who we go for there will be a bit on their copy book.
Some will point to potters failure at Chelsea
Or tuchel at bayern
Or conte at spurs
Etc etc
We just have to trust the judgement of sjr and team.
That's probably easier than trusting the failed judgements of woodward murtagh and Co.
Unless we appoint pep we won't get 100% agreement on anybody.
I don't care who it is at all to be honest I really don't. I'll trust the judgement of the management and as long as we see steady progression I'll be fully onboard.
Hope is all we have as supporters imo. So I'll I'm hoping for is to see steady sustainable improvements.

Inzaghi from Inter. Plays 3-5-2. Dalot would fit nicely into his system. We’d still need a striker and a left wingback but it would rid our team of the likes of Rashford, Antony and our other incompetent wide players.

Maybe even Maguire would look better in a 3 alongside Martinez and Varane.

22.) 04 Mar 2024
04 Mar 2024 19:26:13
I'd be pretty annoyed if we hired Conte or Tuchel, both have a habit of rubbing people up the wrong way and causing unrest at a club.

Tuchel's style of play would be a better fit than Conte's.

But I'm not sure either would really want the job. A 3-5 year project to turn the side around before realistically challenging for major honours and what appears to be a job with less control than they've typically wanted at their previous clubs.

I don't think the United job is one for a vastly experienced manager right now. I think it's probably more suited to an up and coming manager, someone who can grow with it, the club and the squad over the next few years.

De Zerbi, Amorim, Alonso, Slot, Farioli or Tedesco could all do a good job I feel.

Please forgive the cheeky request Ed002 but are you able to say who Ashworth’s recommendation for manager is pls?

Thanks as always for any info you are able to reveal.

{Ed002's Note - None of those listed were suggested by him. He will have a say.}
