What I saw last night was a generally excellent performance against a highly effective and organized defensive team. Except for a brief period at the beginning of the second half, United dominated pretty much the whole game. We had plenty chances. We hit the bar, a clearance off the line etc, but unfortunately it's the same old story: we simply don't have any goal scorers. If you didn't know otherwise you would have guessed the table positions were reversed and the home side has snatched a victory from the better team.

Tactically I thought we were set up just right. I was impressed that we created clear heading opportunities at least 4 times from corners. That's a major improvement. We didn't concede from any set piece. Also an improvement.

The result was disappointing but it's abundantly clear that Amorim is starting to impose his style and attitude on the team. We're far more solid and generally playing better football notwithstanding some very sloppy periods. I expect the board to support him to the maximum over the summer, obviously limited by PSR issues. If we get players back and have a fully fit squad maybe we will win the Europa. Let's hope so. Doing so will increase next years revenues by £50m+ between competition and sponsorship moneys. It will speed the rebuild considerably.

Agreed. Said months ago, Europa was the target when it was obvious the squad is I'll prepared for the PL.
Changes are afoot, with or without the UCL, but that will expedite proceedings!

Also noted of late we are crossing the ball into the box more than the usual run to the byline and cut it back.
