Ornstein: United looking to proceed with Baleba. Fee too high even though Baleba wants United and unhappy at Brighton. So the Cameroonian rumour was wrong. Perhaps Hjulmand could be on the radar, if anyone at all.
1.) 15 Aug 2025 17:13:54
Not looking**.
2.) 15 Aug 2025 17:50:12
Ederson from Atalanta would be my next choice.
3.) 15 Aug 2025 17:57:35
Almost right. United *not* looking to proceed. And Baleba *not* unhappy at Brighton!
4.) 15 Aug 2025 18:34:28
Douglas Luiz agreed terms with forest. need to agree it with juve . building decent squad there.
5.) 15 Aug 2025 19:21:48
Isn’t Wharton the next option?
6.) 15 Aug 2025 21:38:28
Roll the dice, go with what we have, last year was a hoot.
7.) 16 Aug 2025 10:29:37
I think the true story is that the deal was never on. United asked, Brighton said they aren't selling this year even for 100mil United said are you sure. Yep not selling from Brighton so United moved on.
8.) 16 Aug 2025 12:44:41
Utd need more than one quality midfielder.
Why not go for Ederson or Wharton this year and back in for Baleba next year?
9.) 16 Aug 2025 17:25:53
The tweeter account that broke the deal agreed news has doubled down and said the move is still on…. brave move fella.
10.) 17 Aug 2025 20:08:01
We need a high energy combative midfielder who will drive us forward. All the midfielders mentioned (Ederson, Wharton etc) are very good players but they are more holding players than forward driving. I think that Baleba is the best suited to what we need although the price tag is too high I feel.

I wonder if there's any substance to camavinga rumours!? Barely keep up with La Liga so don't know if Alonso would sell? £69milly touted.
1.) 19 Aug 2025 13:15:20
Not heard that rumour but if that is true, Camavinga is a player I would love to get in a United Shirt.
2.) 19 Aug 2025 17:29:24
Would love Camavigna with Ancelotti, he has never looked the same without him to guide him. He also had Valverde, Kroos and Modric to ensure he is in the right place. In my opinion he is a very overated player, i accept many will disagree but i have always thought this.
For France he always looks out of position relying on his athleticism only. At Real he was always put where he needed to be.
Valverde on the other hand is an incredible player who can be put anywhere in any position and do a good job. He is an vastly underrated player imho with everyone else getting the praise and his work going largely unnoticed.
3.) 19 Aug 2025 20:25:05
100% agree Oakbark.

Why has no one from the PL tried to sign Messi? Moving to Barcelona is not a foregone conclusion. Saudi is an option for him but maybe 1 year deal at at PL team? Would you like to see him at United? Commercial revenue alone would be massive.
1.) 07 Jun 2023 00:28:35
1.) he's getting on in age and past his best.
2.) His wages are astronomical.
3.) He has literally achieved everything there is to achieve in football so motivations level to move to a new competitive league will be low.
4.) CR37s experience with us second time round was a disaster.
5.) Doubt he would be interested in moving to Manchester or Liverpool and none of the London clubs are going to move for him.
2.) 07 Jun 2023 01:05:11
As great as Messi is, you have to change the way the team plays to adapt to him. He won't press, just like Ronaldo did not. And he is not a #9. He was able to be a false 9 for many years in Barcelona because they had the ball all the time. The PL is more up and down, less patient. Messi as a #10 would dictate the team's formation and disrupt the defensive pressing. With the ball, of course, is quite another story.
3.) 07 Jun 2023 01:18:17
I’m a little surprised that neither City nor Chelski has made a move, to be honest. As a fan of the game, I’d love to see him do a season or two in the UK. At this point in his career, I’m not sure that failure would prove all that much, but if he were to perform even half as well as he did over in France, I dare say it would bring an end to the Messi Ronaldo debate once and for all. Not sure I’d want him playing for us, mind, even if that were an option.
4.) 07 Jun 2023 08:23:38
Come on, who wouldn't love to see Messi in a Utd shirt for a season lol.
Can't see it in a million years and probably rightly so with those wages.
But wouldn't be surprised if he joined Pep for a season, especially if Gundogan leaves.
5.) 07 Jun 2023 08:47:57
The chance of Messi coming to the PL would have been after leaving Barcalona and that move never materialised potentially down to the money it would cost.
As great as he is I don't see what team would throw there style and plans up and bring him in, let's be honest it was not exactly a resounding success at PSG.
If Pep can't get him I doubt anyone could. It will be an emotional return to Barcalona (with maybe a 3rd party offering wages to help) or Saudi league for a final huge pay off for 2/ 3 years.
6.) 07 Jun 2023 11:33:58
Terrible idea for us. Need to move on from signing these super stars in their twilight years. It has been a miserable experience for the club in terms of winning trophies. Messi for me is the greatest off all time and wish him the best.
7.) 07 Jun 2023 13:05:45
Why would any team really want him except for shirt sales and media exposure
He’s finished at the top level just like Ronaldo.
25 Jun 2022 16:48:38
Small rumours Liverpool may look to offload Salah as they don't want to pay him £400k per week (and I think he is out of contract next year? )
Apaz they would sell for £60mill.
I know he's Liverpool player etc, but if there is a sniff of him available, united should try. I know I know rumours, plays for liverpool, they wouldn't sell to us etc.
Stranger things have happened, he could finally get his hands on the Europa League, something liverpool can't offer him AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA.
1.) 25 Jun 2022 17:14:40
He wouldn't consider coming to United. It'd ruin his Liverpool legacy.
Liverpool might want to push him this year to avoid losing him for nothing next summer but I'm not sure who the buyer would be.
I can't see Bayern spending that sort of money on him.
PSG have just tied themselves down financially with Mbappe. Unless someone buys Neymar they won't move for a big name player.
Barcelona can't afford to pay that sort of fee. And seem set on Lewandowski.
The Italian clubs are mostly looking to sell and won't spend big as the C.V. hit them hard.
I can't see City spending big on a forward after signing both Haaland and Alvarez.
Real Madrid are a possibility, maybe.
Beyond that maybe Chelsea, but I'd doubt he'd want to go back or Liverpool would want to sell to a domestic rival.
He'll either leave for free next summer or sign a new deal at Liverpool in my opinion.
2.) 25 Jun 2022 17:28:11
Bold opinion to close there shappy ?.
{Ed0666's Note - or sign for Barca as the consensus is?
3.) 25 Jun 2022 17:57:21
There would be no holy reason Salah would choose us rather than Liverpool. Surely one of if not the most attractive club in the world at the present. Surprised Mane left, but the striker trio has needed an overhaul for a while. I assumed Firminho would be first but he might be the last.
4.) 25 Jun 2022 18:23:11
One more season at Pool then leave on a free to Barca/ Real/ PSG or even City.
5.) 25 Jun 2022 18:08:44
By the sounds of it 66 salah will be going wherever his “agent” can’t get the most money.
{Ed0666's Note - apparently he’s salah’s agent but salah’s attorney/advisor.
6.) 25 Jun 2022 19:43:31
If it’s the fella I think it is, he seems a prat.
25 Nov 2021 16:57:10
Out of interest, if Rangnick turns out to be as good as everyone says, why is he not being asked to manage for a longer term basis? Why just 6 months and then move upstairs?
It's been made out that he's the best manager ever in Germany etc but he's never linked with with a massive club?
I'm asking because I don't know enough of the footballing side of him.
1.) 25 Nov 2021 18:22:07
Hes stated a few times he doesnr want to be a long term manager, doing the duties above the manager is what he prefers.
21 Nov 2021 13:11:59
Zidane to come in I think.
He's Mr Champions League.
He has Mr Champions League in attack.
He's got an elite defender.
I would happily take Zidane. The league is off. Push for top 4, realistically think we will finish outside.
I wouldn't be surprised if Zidane does become manager that we reach the semi or final of champions league, if we qualify for knock outs.
CL matches are isolated matches so it's form on the day. The league is obviously different and you need to keep going.
{Ed077's Note - and there's Champions League Varane too.
1.) 21 Nov 2021 14:01:59
Don't see it happening and not convinced by him at all. Sexy name.
2.) 21 Nov 2021 13:41:59
Ed077 how dare you forget Champions League Ronaldo aswell.
I just hope Rogers doesn't get the job. I can see him wing sacked by Leicester soon. I'm sure they might be happy for United to pay for him to be released, rather than sack him. Saves them paying out. They would do the double over rate. First selling Maguire, then offloading Rogers.
I just hope he is not a thought.
{Ed077's Note - isn't "Mr Champions league in attack" in the OP in reference to C. Ronaldo?
3.) 21 Nov 2021 18:30:26
Ed077, my bad.
{Ed077's Note - no worries mate

Why haven’t we gone all in for Donnarumma? The last thing we need is an untested GK. Yes Donnarumma hasn’t played in the PL but surely if available we got to rival City after the rubbish show yesterday.
26 Aug 2025 09:35:37
For gods sake stop saying “I expect us to win the next two games” - have a look at the last time we won b2b games. Granted it’s Grimsby and if we lose then genuinely think RA is under massive pressure before august is out. Until CM is sorted then it’s going to have more troughs than peaks imo. I really like RA so don’t want him sacked but we need midfield sorted.
15 Aug 2025 17:13:54
Not looking**.
15 Aug 2025 17:00:16
Move off for Baleba as per Ornstein.
23 Jul 2024 17:08:52
Genuinely baffled by the hate Bruno gets. Our best player by a country mile. No one as close to his creativeness. Bruno must stay imo, if not who is his replacement? Mount? - the same player who most people were baffled we signed!

He’s scored more times against PL opposition this season than we have I believe which is a hilarious stat.
27 Aug 2025 23:57:42
Close to his strongest 11 too. I wonder if he will resign soon. I don’t think the board will sack him unless we are around relegation at Xmas. I do wonder if he’s lost the dressing room by his words. Give it Giggsy ?.
27 Aug 2025 21:38:52
Tbf along with the the rest of the squad, he’s been awful tonight.
24 Aug 2025 19:39:06
Someone posted the other day about it being an easy match. Another posted “3-0” to United. Deluded fans atm, reality is we are mid table, probably 7-12 position.
21 Aug 2025 13:48:27
We will beat Chelsea/ City/ Liverpool/ Spurs in one of the games we play them in the PL (not necessarily at OT) and finish top 6.
