Hi question to ed02 sorry if it's been asked tried the search function but couldn't see anything, just your opinion please do you think de gea will be at United come next season, I believe he might sign but just so he don't leave for free, do you have anything onit cheers

{Ed002's Note - The issue will be money and Mendes will be looking for a decent sized fee to be paid to De Gea if he signs a new contract - noting that if he sees out his contract and becomes a free agent he will receive more than €16M on joining Real Madrid. Right now Madrid are far than happy with Mendes and Manchester United and they will certainly not be looking to sign De Gea in January. If Manchester United do meet the terms put to them by Mendes and De Gea does sign a new contract, then I would expect him to still be at the club next season. If he still has the desire to move on, then signing a new contract is not in his best interests.}

Thanks for the insight Ed002.

Do you have info on possible clauses relating to Madrid making an offer for him next summer and United accepting it if it is above a certain threshold? Basically, a Madrid specific buyout?

{Ed002's Note - Of course there won't be - he is simply another player signing a new contract.}

So how much will he take home after tax? Did he get a nice signing on bonus? Did his gf get a nice pair of shoes to help ease the disappointment?

Hi Ed002, if you get a few minutes, can you explain a little about De Gea's new contract and what it might mean for his future? I know contracts are complex but if you could dumb it down for me I'd be very grateful. No worries if not. Thanks

{Ed002's Note - It is no different than the contract of any other player - there is no protection from another club looking to buy him, in the same way that all clubs buy players. Manchester United will have paid a considerable amount of money to him in order to have him sign a new deal. So going forward the win situation for the club is that he won't leave as a free agent next summer, and they have use of him. The win situation for the player is the money. The win situation for Mendes is that he could potentially be used by Manchester United in some capacity moving forward - as the relationship between him and Madrid is not great right now.}
