I've waited a long time to post this. Evra has come in for, some stick over that last 18 months but in my opinion he is a true united warrior. Yes his energy may be dropping and some of his positioning is not what it was but if I was going into battle and needed to pick someone to be with me, Patrice would be right up there. I love him, and I will be sad to see him go as he surely will in the next year

AJH, couldn't agree more mate! The guys a legend. we've more than had our money's worth out of him! He's been flogged to death and if we'd had a little bit of serious competion for him we'd probably get another year or two out of him.

2.) 10 Nov 2013
I think you're right AJH, he's really picked up he general play and drives the team forward with shear will and power. He is a true Utd warrior.

Unfortunately it feels like he is always just round the corner from a clanger, poor positioning, not getting back in, or my least favourite - the dodgy sideways pass to their striker!

I'd rather get a worldy centre mid in first though.

3.) 10 Nov 2013
AJH, 'warrior' is exactly the word. Think Syd and some others should be a little ashamed at some of the abuse they've dished out to a guy who would run through brick walls for Utd.

I too will miss him. Most new players, and those coming through the ranks, mention how much Evra makes them feel welcome in the first team.

His loss cannot be underestimated.

4.) 10 Nov 2013
I love Patrice, he's immense going forward one of the best full backs in the world at attacking. But today I lost count of how many times Ramsey or Oezil were running in behind him and he was just trotting back, while only having a 1-0 lead. My heart was in my a55 for most of the second half.

I was saying to my mate I can't wait until we have a top class LB that can attack and defend just as well.

5.) 10 Nov 2013
Several times in the second half Evra was too far forward and out of position. It let Arsenal into dangerous areas but it is likely why Moyes has been interested in a left back.

6.) 10 Nov 2013
More drive in him than a lot of other players especially some of our midfielders that lack it big time

7.) 11 Nov 2013
Red Man, I think AJH was accepting your gripes - we can all see his stamina waning before our eyes - but his point, is that Evra brings far more to the club than poor positioning.

You can nitpick over his mistakes, as you could with all our players, even Rooney, but I still think his overall contributions to the club, still outweigh the negatives.

8.) 11 Nov 2013
I'm not at all ashamed, Ev should have been replaced three years ago.

9.) 11 Nov 2013
AJH, Evra has been a great servant agreed, but he was been tragic since 2010 defensively. Yesterday Sagna had the freedom to do what he wanted and every ball Evra put into the box went straight to the Arsenal keeper. Evra was constantly out of position and our weakest link in the side defensively. MU will continue to look to replace him because he needs replacing. It's long overdue. That being said I respect and I am very grateful for his service over the years.

StevieK

I do not doubt Evra's commitment and service but his poor positional play has been an issue for a while and could have cost us 2 points yesterday, then you would not have been lauding him.

11.) 11 Nov 2013
Syd, to be fair, there hasn't been much respect for his years of service shown in some of your posts about him over the last while.

12.) 11 Nov 2013
StevieK, are you suggesting a player who has given us years of service cannot be criticised for several poor displays?

13.) 11 Nov 2013
It's the way you criticised him Syd, and you know it. It's the same with Giggs on here. There's a big difference between constructive criticism and cheap shots.
Red Man, I still would have lauded him, because unlike many on here, I don't have the memory span of a gnat.

StevieK

14.) 11 Nov 2013
Everybody on the pitch, no matter how long they have played or how well they have played in recent times can and will face criticism if they play to a below acceptable standard. Evra, while he does bring positives to the club, is almost always out of position and for a player of his age, ability and experience is very frustrating. Which is why he came into a lot of stick. Rightly so in my opinion. Saying that he did play well yesterday until the latter stages of the match where he was left out of position, Ramsey and Özil were taking advantage of this a number of times but luckily for us they were not found and Sagna got the chance to put in way to many crosses for any United fans liking.

15.) 11 Nov 2013
StevieK, Evra is a liability in defence. He is our weakest link and it's a position that has needed strengthening for years. Clearly you do have the memory of a gnat or you wouldn't have forgotten the last three years. I wonder how people's reaction would have been had one of Sagna's crossed found Giroud's head. There is no room for sentiment in football, if a player isn't performing well enough then he will be criticised. If MU could have agreed a fee for Baines then we wouldn't be discussing this now, nor last season as Evra wouldn't be playing.

16.) 11 Nov 2013
Completely agree with Syd on this. Yes Evra is a warrior and is always 100% comitted to the cause but he is constantly out of position.
Syd mentioned the two crosses from Sagna that could of landed on Giroud's head, not only that Evans had to come out 2-3 times during yesterdays game to close down the winger/fullback because Evra was nowhere to be seen which left is weak in the centre which causes big problems when your up against a bid lad like Giroud.
Sorry but Evra has to be replaced!

17.) 11 Nov 2013
Don't be so precious Syd. If you don't understand the difference between criticism and cheap shots, then fair enough. If you can say, hand on heart, that you've never made any of the latter, against a fine club servant, then I must have been misreading your posts.

18.) 11 Nov 2013
I'm not sure what a cheap shot is exactly? I have said he is a liability because he's a liability and I have said he has cost us goals, when he has cost us goals. I have said it's like we are playing with just three defenders, I stand by that too. What do you mean by cheap shots? I want our team to improve and to improve your team you need to replace the weak links. Evra is our weakest link, therefore needs replacing.

19.) 11 Nov 2013
I'm well aware that Pat needs replacing, and he is indeed a weak link in our defence. I'm sure Moyes is well aware of that.

My own view, is that shouting it from the rooftops on here at every opportunity, shows a bit of a lack of class and respect.

20.) 11 Nov 2013
To be fair StevieK, I haven't mentioned Evra for a while. I began to realise that it was easier to mention his good games rather than his bad games to avoid talking about him every week.

21.) 12 Nov 2013
That last comment sort of proves my point, mate :)
