It's really bugging me that people are saying oh we really need Vidal, we really need Guarin or Carvalho (even though most of the posters on here have never seen the play over a consecutive period).

Firstly, we've signed Daley Blind, now if you've seen anything of him at all in his entire career playing at CM you'll know that he's very similar to Owen Hargreaves, you know, that player we had that when you look at him without injuries was a terrific player?

Will he boss Toure? of course he won't but I think even Vidal would have problems doing that.

my point is simply that we've got a lot of posters suggesting this guy or that guy for defensive midfield yet they know nothing about Daley Blind as a defensive midfielder.

I'm more excited about him than I am about any other signing this summer, terrific player and I think a lot of you will be surprised about what he'll bring to United this season.

I'm with you on that. Would've liked a world class centre half but Blind is the defensive midfielder that was needed.

Up until last summer Blind was a left back. He had a good season, granted - but I'm not sure he can even be classed as an out and out midfielder. He's a good LB and a good Midfielder. Vidal is the best midfielder in the world.

If LVG rated Blind that highly we would have signed him a lot earlier on in the window. I imagine there were two or three players ahead of Blind on LVG's list and it seems pretty clear that Vidal was one of them. I'm not saying that I don't think that he will do well with us (I'm pretty sure he will prove a good signing) - but I think Vidal would have been better.
