Unfortunate United couldn't sneak a winner at the end but it would have been undeserved. A draw was probably a fair result.

Already I see people on here moaning about RVP and Mata. I'm seriously bewildered at the negativity directed towards Mata in particular. Always neat and intelligent with his play, fantastic touch and delivery from set piece. But I guess since Di Maria and company have arrived Mata is pants and has no place in the squad?

Also I felt RVP actually had one of his better games today. He didn't slow up play as much as he sometimes does and his running was very intelligent. But people see different things I guess. The worst player on the pitch for me was Januzaj, which hurts me to say. His end product was negligible and he looked incredibly short of confidence. I still hope he gets more of a chance in the starting 11 though.

West Brom were organized extremely well defensively and it were our own errors at the back that had led to goals. The first one saw Di Maria caught up field when Shaw lost out on the 50/50, and Jones stepped up to be way out of position with Rojo not covering and Rafael deep to keep Berahino onside.

Disappointed with the result obviously but I thought we at least moved the ball around quickly and purposefully.

Why would it have been undeserved? We battered them, they had 2 brilliant shots and no corners, we had 64% possession, they battled well and probably didn't deserve to lose, but if we had won I wouldn't have said we didn't deserve it.

Good analysis. I thought Raphael was excellent tonight. We've yet to see the best of Shaw/Falcao/RVP this season but that will come. Still a worrying lack of composure and leadership, not sure Rooney will bring this when he returns.

Wp. Rooney is getting it in the neck even when doesn't play. Can any of the mata/januzaj supporters honestly tell us that Rooney is not missed? I said we will miss him and tonight we would have won with him in the side.

22 attempts at goal; 7 shots on target; and 64% possession are pretty impressive stats. We should have won tonight. We lost because our defence made bad errors which led to them converting two two chances the created.

Next week should be interesting.

No midfield, my comment on Rooney was not about his playing abilities but whether, as captain, he can exert composure and control. Personally I don't think he can.
