Interviewer asked Basti - 'It must have been important for you join and work with LVG again at the club'

Basti 'Yes its nice to work with Louis again but it's more important that I come to play for Manchester United, this is what I always wanted - to play for this big club, it was always a dream'

I know its saying the right things but it's good to hear it anyway!

tbf to him he's always said similar about us, had a feeling he'd sign for us at some point. Always used to say how he was a fan as a child and how big of a club we are.

Anon, this was my point, they are expected to be a little gushing and its partly scripted, but he seemed more genuine - none of the biggest club in the world guff, more I wanted to play for United - its good Louis here, but its United I want to play for.

I seem to remember that every summer for the last five years or so Schweinsteiger has been linked with United at some point, and every time he has been linked, someone has mentioned that his brother is a big United fan. I wonder whether that story is myth or not, if indeed it is true, his brother encouraged Bastian to sign for United given that Pep prefers Alonso.

Theres a photo from over ten years ago which has come out today and both Bastian and his brother have united kits on.

I think the photo was taken in 2001/2002.
