German media reporting Schwinestiger is flying in for a medical.

Lets wait and see if this is true or just selling papers or pay per click advertising.

Cheers.

3 Year deal - 15 million fee - Bild are breaking the story.

2.) 10 Jul 2015 21:55:42
I would rather take schweini since 30m for schneiderlin is clearly taking the piss

3.) 10 Jul 2015 21:58:16
We are being priced out of schneiderlin at a ridiculous 30m, so I'll take schweini

4.) 10 Jul 2015 21:59:46
Would love it with Schneiderlin but just can't see it!!

5.) 10 Jul 2015 22:02:16
Was just going to post same thing. 3 year deal. Fabulous news. I do hope we sign Schneiderlin too as a younger proven Prem performer but in Schweinsteiger we have at last a genuine world class central midfielder again. I appreciate he is 30 but he's an absolute beast of a player and never seen him have a bad game.

6.) 10 Jul 2015 22:05:48
I think it leaves us in a strong position to sign Schniderlin too hopefully - Southampton want 30m and we have offered 20m, so next step this weekend is a compromise at 25m and then he and Schwini will be on the plane to USA on Monday - room for Otamendi on the flight too!

7.) 10 Jul 2015 22:06:45
I think if this is true then the domino's of the Schneiderlin deal may fall into place. Whether that is us withdrawing as LVG only wanted 1 or we push on knowing that we have Schweinsteiger in place.
Centre of the park may not be the pushover we have been previously. assuming he comes with the right attitude

8.) 10 Jul 2015 22:06:47
10m euros per year surely that's not right

9.) 10 Jul 2015 22:07:16
If this schweinsteiger rumour is true surely this would put us in a better negotiating position with Southampton re schneiderlin

10.) 10 Jul 2015 22:16:10
I agree dave. It shows that we don't need him if we have bastian and they will have less of a bargaining chip

11.) 10 Jul 2015 22:21:33
Looking at Twitter the bold reports being backed up by some prominent journalists who are Munich fans saying thanks and goodbye to Bastian. No wonder are looked smug at Wimbledon today, must have happened late as LVG didn't hint at anything at Depays press conference. Maybe he didn't want to take anything away from Depays day knowing it was the biggest day in his career so far. Let's get Otamendi, Schneiderlin and Lacazette and its game on

12.) 10 Jul 2015 22:21:55
This would be excellent (if true)and we should then add Scheiderlin and that is the midfield sorted!

CB and Striker and we can push hard for the title, me thinks

13.) 10 Jul 2015 22:22:57
Looks like a solid rumour on Schwini - wages 7.2m over 3 years - most of the transfer sites are running with this now so happy days. You heard it on this site first though so cheers to the Eds.

14.) 10 Jul 2015 22:36:58
He'll be 31 in a couple of weeks Halesini. Great experienced player but very expensive with his age and wages. No doubt a big signing on fee too. I think Scneiderlin is better for ye value wise, although a bigger transfer fee but probably half the wages.

15.) 10 Jul 2015 22:41:41
Could'nt be happier if true.
:-)

16.) 10 Jul 2015 22:47:20
this is smashed across evry paper, footy site and twitter. proper hoping its true

17.) 10 Jul 2015 23:56:53
Possibly more good news. AS (the newspaper in Spain) are leading with Real signing the Espanyol keeper Kiko Casilla.

They co own the player with Espanyol, so it means buying out Espanyol's rights. His transfer clause is 20m and so it should mean Real give 10m and he signs for them, but AS are indicating they will get him cheaper.

My take on this is that it could be mind games on the De Gea transfer negotiations, but its normally Marca in Spain that are the puppets for Madrid so let's hope Madrid may have decided to move on from De Gea. He seems happy enough shopping at the Trafford Centre and going to Wimbledon!

18.) 11 Jul 2015 00:29:08
LVG has stressed at the news conference how professional De Gea has been and that he is happy to take him on tour. I am retrospectively adding weight to this in light of the AS article above, perhaps we have made headway in retaining De Gea.

19.) 11 Jul 2015 13:04:47
Seriously, who cares how much Schneiderlin costs it isn't our money and everyone says he is THE player to improve our midfield, Schweini and Carrick will be injured so can dovetail nicely.
Ed is always saying how minted we are we will spend the money anyhow

Interviewer asked Basti - 'It must have been important for you join and work with LVG again at the club'

Basti 'Yes its nice to work with Louis again but it's more important that I come to play for Manchester United, this is what I always wanted - to play for this big club, it was always a dream'

I know its saying the right things but it's good to hear it anyway!

1.) 13 Jul 2015 19:55:49
tbf to him he's always said similar about us, had a feeling he'd sign for us at some point. Always used to say how he was a fan as a child and how big of a club we are.

2.) 13 Jul 2015 20:39:51
Anon, this was my point, they are expected to be a little gushing and its partly scripted, but he seemed more genuine - none of the biggest club in the world guff, more I wanted to play for United - its good Louis here, but its United I want to play for.

3.) 13 Jul 2015 20:57:22
I seem to remember that every summer for the last five years or so Schweinsteiger has been linked with United at some point, and every time he has been linked, someone has mentioned that his brother is a big United fan. I wonder whether that story is myth or not, if indeed it is true, his brother encouraged Bastian to sign for United given that Pep prefers Alonso.

4.) 13 Jul 2015 21:47:51
I think the brother bit is true Gilly.

A funny one sent in to MUTV:

Basti -

Your a new Manchester United player
Captain of German
World Cup Winner
8 times Bundersliga Champion
Champions League winner
Your girlfiend is Ana Ivanovic

So where Basti where did it all go wrong?

5.) 13 Jul 2015 22:59:54
Theres a photo from over ten years ago which has come out today and both Bastian and his brother have united kits on.

I think the photo was taken in 2001/2002.

13 Jul 2015 18:29:42
Paddy coming up on MUTV - he will be more giddy than any of us!

Intro for Basti and Morgan straight after.

An old football saying has become brilliantly pertinent this weekend.

- Form is temporary but class is permanent!

Take a bow LVG for the strategy and Ed Woodward for implementing it.

Otamendi and a stiker to still to come.

1.) 13 Jul 2015 08:24:35
Couldn't agree more.

BTW Solskjaerhaswonit!, Great article on LVG's first season. Very well summed up and a really good read IMO. I recommend others check it out if they haven't already. I missed it when the Eds posted a link on here, but came across it on the Euro pages I think. Anyway, great work!

2.) 13 Jul 2015 09:05:36
Thanks Monkeyballs - I had the giddies about the new signings - this was before Morgan Schniderlin!

Different World.

RVP arrives in Turkey on a private jet. When I go for a job interview's it's hard to even get my bus fare reinmbursed!

Austerity's a bit*h.

2.) 12 Jul 2015 16:32:05
Herbie we should have RVP re-routed to Greece, AEK Athens need a striker!

12 Jul 2015 14:54:59
Here's the Bayern take on loosing Basti - seems he's past it!

Franck Ribery looked even more vexed than usual. 'I'm very, very sad, ' he said. 'The entire team is sad because he's been with us for so long'

Captain Philipp Lahm lamented: 'Losing Bastian Schweinsteiger is a pity for me and the club. I had hopes that he will stay with us'

And Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the chief executive who tried in vain to persuade the club icon to stay, was heckled by disgruntled fans who will doubtless view his departure as another sign that Bayern's status in European football is regressing.

This sense of loss at the German champions speaks of the reality - that Manchester United have bought a footballer of impeccable pedigree, a proven champion and, above all, someone for the here and now.

Great weekend - Danke Bayern!

I think Fellani will be more of a plan B option next year JK92. He will get some game time in the cup games, but he will come into his own when we are struggling to breakdown the tighter defences in Europe or where teams come and park the bus. This may be from the left or latter stage as a centre forward / battering ram!

What's all this about Van Gaal's Knockers? We all wind up with man boobs mate - it's a bit harsh he's in his 60's and has just pulled off 4 top signings!

Additional Wide Options:

Pedro, Reus, De Byrne

Pastore - to play off Rooney - not really needed just think he's class!

Immobile - Back up for Rooney or
Lacazette - Back up for Rooney

Zlatan - So Rooney can learn about holding up play and linking play as a sole striker

Bale - is the ideal if not probable option

I think Otamendi is nailed on
