Well that showing was even more evidence that without a CB and ST we will be battling for fourth again this season. That's not an over reaction I've said it for weeks. We're short up top, and woeful at the back! Jones is a calamity. I'll be seriously p****d off if Hererra is left out this season. Play a midfield 3 of MC/BS, MS and AH, with front 3 of MD, WR, and a new recruit!

De Gea will also leave. Make no mistake about it. Players get what they want and he wants out. So ship him off and replace him as soon as possible. Another transitional season this year

I would tend to agree with you StandUnited. I think the point you make about Herrera is important, he would be the first name on the team sheet for me.

Why is everybody so downbeat this morning. Just because we lost to PSG in a pre season friendly?? We beat Barcelona last week and were the best team in the world again.

There is a month left in the transfer window. Ed has shown himself to be very active in this window. He has addressed two positions that have been weak for a number of years in RB and CM, plus added a very exciting attacking forward in Depay.

For years people have been moaning about what a soft touch we are when selling players especially to Real barring the Ronaldo fee. And here we are actually standing our ground over our best player for the last 2 seasons. I say good on Ed and the club for trying to get the best possible deal for us that possibly might involve a 'Galactico' coming the other way.

Stop the moaning, let's see how the rest of the window goes and more importantly how we set up and play in the 1st game of the season which is the real benchmark, not a pre season game against PSG.

When you put it that way I revert my previous disagreement on the necessity of a new "striker" - a Ronaldo/Bale/Robben type rather than a traditional "striker" would be ideal imo and that's what I meant by "someone to do what ADM should have".

Agree on Herrera and your 11 listed and like the similar shape to the Rooney-Tevez-Ronaldo team.

I'd still like 2 centre backs first though, especially if DDG gets his move home.

As for the rest I'm not ok doom and gloom. I'm just pointing out the glaring obvious need for at least 1 CB to compete. And I feel were short of goals and creativity. We have addressed CM but neither are creative players and Rooney won't score 25 goals. We don't have one CB who we can fully trust to perform consistently. If we can bring in a "big name" there are defender in this league who can vastly improve what we have for cheaper fee. Shawcross and Williams are just two examples of upgrades on jones , Evans.

All I'm saying is to compete for the league these need addressing so let's see what happens

I agree on your formation, if we don't sing another forward then Young / Januzaj to fill in. The midfield is critical ad I don't think LVG knows what he wants to do yet. 1 holding and 2 running the game, its not rocket science.
