i know its early days but i can see that if louis van gaal is stubborn again and play memphis in that role he is going to become like di maria. i jus don't get how u can play a skilfull winger as a number 10 when we have ander herrera who is excellent in that role we all know that

Liverpool fan here

But then you need to drop Mata from the team.

I think Mata should be the one to be dropped . I like him but he's just that bit too slow in everything he does

Mata was a desperation buy and we overpaid. There was a good reason why Mourinho chose to sell him, despite him being Chelsea's player of the year. If he's going to be played out of position then that's even worse.

Personally I would prefer to have a great winger play that position - someone who could attack both inside and out, plus a midfield 3 permed from Herrera, Carrick, Schneiderlin, and Schweinsteiger.

It would not surprise me if Mata is not with us next season.

Look, I've liked Mata when he was at Valencia. I like him now, but I too think he should be dropped, because of his slower game play. And once Pedro joins, he will. BUT Mata is a player who United need, because of his creatively and passing, especially at smaller stadiums. And finally, remember who intercepted the ball for United's only goal yesterday :)

Agree love Matas attitude and he seems to love the club but so frustrating how slow he is and if we are going to play with a high pressing line he is too slow and small out there. Need speed and strength. Would rotate Mata at number 10 where we need to press for a goal Avis t team playing deep

If he's not going to play herrera then depay needs to play out wide and mata in behind the striker. The problem I think we have is that we don't have a striker. Rooney gets what he wants all along and yet every game drops back into midfield to pick up the ball, does that sound like a striker? In my humble opinion if you're going to play with 1 up top then that's where he needs to be not dropping back trying to pick up the ball and slow play down I honestly don't think he deserves his spot in the team let alone be our captain. I honestly can't understand all the praise he gets from the pundits they need to take off their Rooney tinted glasses and cop on.
