Would anyone on here really want him?

Absolutely. Why not? He was my first choice to take over from SAF, I'd still take him over almost anyone.

OK he can bring short term success but he never stays anywhere long enough and always leaves on a bad note. personally I don't think he's what we need but him coming to us and then winning the title would be a big f you to Chelsea. It might be worth a gamble it just to see that lol.

Will Pep (if we get him) bring anything but short term success? I have a feeling where ever he goes will be only for 3/4 years, before moving on to the next project.

I've never liked Jose but have warmed to him somewhat over the last few months. The situation seems to have humbled him somewhat. That said I hope that he is not the next Manchester United manager.

The BBC posted an interesting article today looking at the number of social media mentions by manager; and unsurprisingly - Jose was way ahead of any other manager. As good a manager as he may be - his antics serve as something of a sideshow - whether it be insulting refs or blaming medical staff - it's something that we could do without. He's also renowned for his anti-football tactics. Again - something we could do without.

Just out of interest - the only manager that came close to (albeit still some distance away) Jose when it comes to Social media mentions is our good friend LVG.

The sooner we get Ancelotti in the better.

Didn't we appoint LVG on a three year contract? The days of Fergie and Wenger reigns are over.

For me it would be very difficult to turn him down if he's available when we start looking. He said after rejoining Chelsea he was looking to settle and stay for the long haul, his record speaks for itself and although his style of football did not suit our style under fergie is would be a massive upgrade on the shit we're playing these days.

Redseven what i think Jose does very well is put himself out there to protect the team. Probably why he gets all those social media mentions. Most of the talk this season has been about his 7 minute question response or his excuses. I haven't seen a lot about how terrible the players have been. I would love Mourinho here i actually think he wants a long term post i think he is desperate for the status Fergie had for being at the top with one club for so long. We have the money to recruit and i still imagine a lot of top players would be drawn to him still as a manager, a damn site more than want to play for LVG. I have a felling Mourinho would love the OT hot seat i wonder if the board would be brave enough to hire him after failing abysmally with their last two appointments. One thing that might tempt them would be the media frenzy surrounding the club if we got him in.

jaimej79 - whilst I agree that a lot of what Jose does publicly serves as a means to protect his players - there are things like insulting referees and members of the staff and saying that he has been betrayed by his players that certainly will have an impact and players and more over are embarrassing to the club.

I think he would do a good job in the short term but don't see him as a long term answer. That said - he's better than LVG and might be our best option if Pep and Ancelotti end up elsewhere.

It may well be that we've already missed out on the aforementioned - in which case the board should probably give Jose a call. I don't think they will though.
