2nd Mount bid rejected between 45-50 million.
Time to move on, Chelsea will loose him for nothing in 12 months.

When's the last time we walked away? Hopefully we do now, but you get the feeling the rejection is just like a red rag to a bull with our negotiators. Not sure he's worth the price of MacAllister and Kovacic combined but we'll give them what they want. If he wasn't English and it wasn't Utd, you get the feeling it would be a lot less.

looks like a deal will be done around 55 to 60 mill that includes add ons. a bit of fish trading going on both parties.

I think he's a cracking player but Chelsea are taking the p*ss wanting over 60-65 million pounds for a player with 12 months of his contract left.
I hope they loose him for nothing in 12 months, he signs for United and lands Chelsea in the rubbish with FFP rules the greedy bas*ards!

What about backing the manager and getting him first choice targets? Or do we pull out now and moan about not being backed and getting second grade players in?

Time to walk off £50m is accurate. Not worth more than that worth 12 months left.

Havertz going for 65M, i think that sets the tone. I think Mount is a better player plus he is English so that will add to the cost.

Personally think we will land at £55-60m including add ons. Middle of initial bid and there valuation. Havertz going for £65m with extra year on his deal has probably set a valuation along with some others leaving for the Saudi league meaning Chelsea can be a bit more bulish.

8.) 21 Jun 2023
21 Jun 2023 16:20:12
Havertz is by far the better player.

9.) 21 Jun 2023
21 Jun 2023 17:45:56
Also you are getting a player that Chelsea do not want to lose.
Mount is definitely quality. rather see mount start than fred or mctom so let's just pay a bit more and get him in.

I just don’t get it. £55m+ for someone who will improve the squad but not the first XI sufficiently enough to get anywhere near City.
A Caicedo/ Rice midfielder is what was required far more - Casemiro can’t carry on being a one man band defensively.

{Ed002's Note - amount plays in a different position to Caicedo and Rice.}

Not doubting that Mount is quality, he’s high energy and box to box. Perfect foil for Casemiro.

But………. (and this is controversial! ) how much better than McTominay is he? Scott has been slammed from all angles, but he still retains quite a few big club suitors keeping an eye on him. He’s high energy and likes a tackle, and is a solid performer on the international stage. If he was English…and playing regularly, would he perhaps be thought of a bit more highly? Is Mount 60 million pounds better? I’m not sure.

Mount would be an upgrade on Eriksen, better engine for the tempo EtH wants to play.

FiremanC, big clubs monitoring Mctominay? Like West Ham and Everton? The clubs who have interest in Mount are Barca, Real, Juve etc hardly the same at all ? as for the ‘English tax’ it’s more of a HG tax which Mctom counts as.

Jesus what a moaning bunch we are!
Forget his contract status etc if we can get a player off of MM quality ( and he is ) who instantly improves our starting 11 for 55-60 million I think that’s excellent business! We’ll get minimum 6 / 7 years out of him!

From a CFC prospective I hope you consider Mount too expensive and walk away.

He is a class player and given todays market is a snip at £70mil let alone £60mil.

Comparisons with Havertz are misleading but he will influence far more games than Havertz. He scores, creates and finds space between the lines.

I will be gutted to see him leave my club and move to a premiership rival but these things happen. How we can let a player voted twice by fans as our player the season in the last three seasons leave is something I’m struggling to understand.

Completely agree Tom, no idea why he seems to get so much hate, i think he is a fantastic player and will fit into a need Ten Hag has.

I can fully uderstand why Chelsea won't let him go for less than thwir asking price someone will pay and i am sure we will eventually.

Grim spot on and tom I totally agree. He gives us the mobility and creativity in midfield. He always puts in a shift both sides of the ball. I think he will be a good signing for us.

adding mount and rabiot/ ambrabat as a fred replacement and we have significantly improved our midfield.

I would be happy with Mount and Rabiot on a free.
Rabiot had a superb last season. 48 games, 11 goals and 6 assists.
He would certainly help out Casemiro in the midfield.
Rice is going Arsenal or Man city.

Said it before. There's a reason every coach who's worked with him has loved him. He takes on instructions and follows them. Simple. Intelligent player, who gets mocked for being a teacher's pet, because he's capable of doing what he's told. Not sexy enough for some. I'd have him in my team every time.

Don't really see the need to take any skepticism towards the player as hate.
I just think he's massively overpriced given his contract status and that again Utd are having the p*** taken out of them given some other transfers that other clubs have already made. If he had two years left and was coming off the back of a blinding season then fair enough.
I get that the manager has (shock) seen what the player can do up close when on loan in the Dutch league. I believe if the manager wants him we should go for it. He's prioritising the player over pretty much everyone and is the one he wants, so let's get him, hopefully for less than the £65m asking price.

You just need to browse through the Chelsea page to see how much the fans want to keep him. He’ll be a quality addition. Rice looking unlikely unless the most convoluted transfer in history happens swapping in McT and Maguire, so Rabiot feels sensible.

Then frees us up to buy a striker (Greenwood is clearly coming back as back up striker), and a defender if Maguire or Lindelof move on. If they don’t, we don’t need to do anything at the back in my opinion this season.

The biggest problem is GK. What are we doing there.

Mount is a quality player. However, I just don’t see a midfield of Bruno, Mount, and Casemiro working against teams with even a little bit of quality in midfield. From what I’ve seen of him, he’s at his best a little further up the field in the kind of positions where Bruno likes to operate.

As far as squad depth goes, having a player of Mount’s quality who could fill in for Bruno would be great, but what we really need is a Declan Rice kind of player. Spending any more than £50m on a player with only a single year left on their contract seems like bery bad business already, more so when you consider that we’ll probably still need to play one of McFred or Eriksen in bigger matches, or bring in another top class midfielder to play alongside Bruno/ Mount and Casemiro.

How much better than McTominay is he? Ermm an absolute million times.

Leicester want £50m for Maddison and he only has 1 year left on his contract too. Mount is definitely worth £20m more than Maddy easy.
