Had this debate in the Pub last night with two scousers, a leeds and a blackburn fan.

If you were a World class player who grew up supporting a team other than United (sacrilege I know) and the top 2 clubs from each country in Europe wanted to sign you, who and how would you choose.

Manager?
Wages?
Weather? (Players have wives too?)
History?
Supporters?
Style of Play?
Pals?
Status?
Ego?
Sales Pitch fro Club?

Year after year we seem to be linked with big names but we seem to fail to lure them to our great club. I can accept (barely) players might want to sign for Madrid, Barca and Munich but how do we miss out on so many.

Is KLOOT right, are the Glaziers minding the purses and just using media spin to keep us happy.

Did SAF only sign players who wanted to play for UNITED.

Giggs, Neville G & P, Scholes, Solksaer, Carrick, O'Shea, Keane, Rio all bleed red.

The most successful period in our history has come from players who lived united.

So anyway %U^K Ronaldo and his UNITED is the past comments and let's get back to the trusted formula, Youth and players who want to play for the club and when top players want to play for us get the cheque book out.

PS what's the deal with the no.7 jersey now?

It is kind of a loaded question. Some clubs don't need to work as hard as other to get players. Barca and Real obviously will always beat other clubs to a player as they have it all. History weather, money, status, style.

Funny enough I think we are up there because we are an enigma and have incredible history and tradition and until this summer always play our cards close to our chest and never seem to have player issues and disruption which had a lot to do with SAF.

I don't believe for one minute half the bs the media reports about us and players turning us down.

We supposedly offered 150 million for bale, made me laugh.

Finally, I think the number 7 Jersey will go next summer. Your guess is as guess as mine :)

I reckon we give it Januazaj. But I completely agree about using the same formula we have over so man years. of course it would of been great to get Ronnie back, but he isn't going anywhere so it seems. I think we concentrate on the youth, with the likes of Zaha, Januazaj, Powell, Lingard, Henriquez, Keane, etc and add to it in the next two transfer windows, with the likes of Shaw and Barkley. We would have a fantastic nucleolus to our team that would all know each other inside out and could be playing together for years to come. Fingers crossed

3.) 15 Sep 2013
Wages
Status
Weather
Manager
Style of play
In that order for me.

4.) 15 Sep 2013
Elvis - think you lot need to stop dreaming over Barkley, that's a player Everton won't sell and a player UTD couldn't afford

5.) 15 Sep 2013
AvitURS - Why couldn't we afford him? I think we're in a pretty decent position with him to be honest, hasn't he said he owes a lot to Moyes for giving him his chance etc.? He would be 20 mil max. IMO and i'm sure that would be spread out over a number of years due to success at club and international level, whoever he goes to, because he will move on eventually if Everton are not fulfilling his own ambitions and he wants to progress his career further, and no club can deny anyone that.

6.) 15 Sep 2013
Don't tell me Avit, Barkley is once a blue always a blue? Kenwright needs the money whoever it is who comes in for your players. You are I'm afraid a selling club and will be for a while. Everyone has there price.

Location-not just weather but the local area is just ad important.
Style of play and playing time.
Wages.

In that order. All clubs have their own history and prestige and I don't think you can choose one club over another based on its history.

8.) 15 Sep 2013
I hope so there are a lot of better midfielders out there than Barkeley.

9.) 15 Sep 2013
Listen guys Everton may be a selling club but I can assure you right now they will not sell Barkley for a long time and as for Elvis saying they would accept £20 mill is just hilarious. He is not worth that much now but could be worth £50-£60 mill in 2 or 3 years.Everton are not in a position where they need to sell and United would be the last club besides Liverpool they would sell to.Forget about him, it'll never happen!.

10.) 15 Sep 2013
I think maybe if Januzaj progresses really well this year then give him the number 7 shirt next summer.

11.) 15 Sep 2013
Paul if spurs managed to buy erriksen for 12m then I can't see how Barkley will ever be worth 50-60m.

12.) 15 Sep 2013
Not sure where all this Barkley talk is coming from and frankly don't want to go through another soap opera with the scousers.

Why buy something that might not come good and yet to be proven?

Rather sign a Vidal, Hernanes, or the guy from Inter (can't remember his name).

Vidal is a beast and reminds of Keane but with more technical ability and not the crazy stuff.

13.) 15 Sep 2013
Also Paul 1878 - I was talking about the next two transfer windows when we would make our move for him and IMO he would be worth up to 20 mill max, but that would be add ons etc. So probs about 12/14 up front. Everyone has their price my friend, but of course Everton wouldn't want to lose him, however it would come down to several factors and not just price. We will see

14.) 15 Sep 2013
Paul 1878- 50/60 million in 2 or 3 years? haha don't be silly

15.) 16 Sep 2013
OZ
januzaj would be given the No 11 when Giggs retires next season

16.) 16 Sep 2013
50/60 mill

If you throw in Mirales and 3 or 4 other players it is possible.
