There's no doubt he was arugably our best player in the pre season games and was constantly in the starting line up until his injury. Fellaini has been great but there's no denying Herrera has better ball control, dribbling, passing and probably better tactical awareness. The fact that Blind is out now too and we need energy to balance out Carrick's lack of it, Herrera has certainly been sitting out to regain full fitness! Will be nice to get him back.

At the present time, I would like to see a middle three of Fellaini, Carrick and Herrera, I feel that these three would complement each other perfectly with Fellainis power, Herrera's work rate and pace around the pitch and Carrick's guile and calmness.

Ozwald - Herrera was quality against Galaxy and then anonymous every other game of pre-season. He looked very good at the start of the season though until the injury.

He should be playing but his pre-season form was not good.

Herrera has been named on the bench for emergency use. He's been getting over an injury. If we had sufficient midfield cover he wouldn't have even made the bench. I'm glad he's not been forced to play in recent weeks so he should be fully fit pretty soon. We could use his abilities in midfield to balance Fellaini's lack of finesse. They could be a decent midfield partnership, certainly on paper.

I agree Syd, but the gaffer wants Rooney to play as the third man in midfield - where does that leave ADM? Surely LVG must know he is far more effective playing CM and is the major difference we have.

Rooney should play up top, which would make everything much better, Herrera Fellaini & ADM central in the hole. However whilst Fellaini is doing well, Herrera will be side-lined in my view.
