I know we are all still giddy from our transfer business so far with hfully more to come add that to the signings last year we've got a pretty formidable squad but who do the posters expect to improve the most out of last year's signings ? If it's true that shaw has lost half stone and got a grip on his fitness then I think he is going to be the best left back in europe

I agree Shaw could improve a lot. Mata (if he stays) could also rediscover his Chelsea form given that our Schmidfield will be shouldering more defensive responsibility.

matas stats are great he's our highest scoring midfielder since joining, and hopefully now the midfield has been sorted and a decent CB he may be given more freedom this season.

I like Shaw a lot and think he will prove his worth and some. It would also seem he has already got a good relationship with Depay from what I have seen of photos on his twitter and the club pictures of them going on tour, they always seem to be together. If Depay is to play out wide left, they could form a great partnership which will bring the best of out of both of them. As for Mata, I hope he stays and is a regular, I think he has so much to offer the team as as you say, our midfield looks defensively stronger now so hopefully can remove some of the pressure on him defensively.

Mata was eventually shown the door at Chelsea by mourinho for the same reason I would at United. He's too slow and wants too many touches our play should be fast fast fast like when we dominated

Surely that should be schmouldering more responsibility

Major I agree I want the tempo up but Mata was one of our top 3 performers over our best period last year (spurs, Liverpool, villa, city games spring to mind)
