LFC fan in peace, you seem to have a few promising youngsters coming through so my question is do you still want Mourinho in the summer. He has a long history of not playing youth and loaning them all out. More than likely their squad places will be taken by Mendes clients who won't offer anything the youngsters can't already provide.

LFC fan. Don't want Jose for that resson. You have to give youth a chance and there is no history of that. Poch at Spurs for me . Koman at saints far better option.

Hi redial, I'm torn to be honest,
We have a manager if or when he is relieved of his post that will be the time to have that discussion.
José has some great attributes and some short comings as will every other potential candidate.
He didn't loan out any significant amount of youth at Porto Milan or Madrid, it is more of a Chelsea policy, also most of the youth he loaned out at Chelsea were bought and loaned as opposed to coming through the academy and loaned out.

When there is a vacancy ill have more thoughts on item sure but until then I will reserve judgement.

Cheers.
Ken.

Really hope Mourinho isn't appointed. Yes a great track record but only a short term fix (which was supposedly LVG's role? ) and typically leaves the club in worse shape than when he started. Arrogant, divisive, unwilling to put faith in youth and just coming off the end of his worst ever campaign. Really surprised so many are in favor of bringing him in. They way many fans talk it's as if there aren't any good managers out there.

Mourinho has a long history of winning major trophies and if he arrives at OT I can see it could concern rival fans far more than another season of LVG.

In terms of "good" managers out there, at a time where Pep, Klopp and a top manager will likely be in at Chelsea we will need more than a good manager, we need a world class manager unless we are happy to accept huge risk of mediocrity.

It is often levelled at Mourinho that he doesn't favour youth, well how many of the roles he has been in after Porto gave him time or encourage youth development? For me it is what objective is set for him, if it is youth development he has to meet it or accept he may be fired. In all this the youth have to be good enough, have they been good enough at his previous clubs? People seem to think the answer to everything is throw youth in, sometimes it works but not always. If they are good enough, they will play whether the manager is Mourinho or anyone else.

I think the club needs a world class manager next, no more "might be good" and Jose fits that bill at this time.

What is this thing about "short fix" and "leaving club in worse state when he leaves".
He built Porto into a cl club and left them with world stars in their side which they sold after his departure for millions. He went to Chelsea, a team that hadn't won anything for over 50 years and won them the PL on several occasions, in the proces, he bought them lots of superb players. He then went to Inter, who were an average side and won the treble with them. He also won with Real. And back to Chelsea where he again won the PL. Chelsea still have great players, so the club is still in very good shape.
As for "short fix", it might have escaped people's notice, pep has only signed a short contract, pochetino has only signed a short contract. This is the way it is done these days. So this argument just doesn't stack up I'm afraid,
I'm with Red man, Mourinho is available and he's in the top three managers around, it's a no brainer. Get him in.

So I guess I remain in the minority but for me he takes us further away from our values and what we stand for. He is the last person I want at our club and I am saddened by how quickly so many are prepared to sell out soul.

Do you all think Jose had any say who he bought at Chelsea and Real. Both clubs run by megalomaniacs who are playing a real life version of Football Manager. If and when LVG leaves and if Jose is chosen, it will be with certain clauses on youth etc. I'm still plugging the Hughes appointment. I'm keen to see the back of LVG. I don't believe this run of form will continue under his leadership as we have seen no evidence of sustaining results in his tenure so far. Jose (with clauses! ), Koeman or Hughes. I'd be happy with any of those three.
