Agree fully with ed, I like Blind he seems like a nice bloke but he is the perfect example of what went wrong, buying average players and because they try hard, keep playing them despite it meaning we finish 6th in the league.

Thanks for the instant reply Ed. If not Blind, who might we attempt to buy? Carrick doesn't have the legs for all the games, Fellaini doesn't complement Herrera and Pogba and Morgan's not featuring at all.

I love Carrick and Blind is not the same class but Daley rarely let us down last year. Average is a bit harsh.

We tried blind as holding midfielder when we first signed him and most fans were bemoaning the fact he passed sideways too much.

For me blind should be a reserve left back or centre back as he's dependable and seems like a good guy to have in the squad.

DSG, I think blind passing sidewards was down to LVGs philosophy. Carrick did the exact same.

I would like to at least try blind in there when Carrick needs a break. He's not as good but he reads the game extremely well and is very tidy with the ball at feet. He would be an able stand in.

Blind is a quality player in my opinion. He hasn't been playing much recently but he typically performs really well and left back as well as centre back and centre mid is his most natural position. One of LVG's best signings honestly and easily our most versatile player.

{Ed025's Note - hello...earth to ruud...hes a decent squad player who will maybe step in if someone is injured or suspended, otherwise kept well away from the first team..a dutch jordan henderson for me.. :)

Is this a position suited to Fosu-Mensah? Natural midfielder, strong defensive qualities, physically strong, just lacking experience.

I would say he has the potential to be a lot better than Blind ever could be in that position but I do think we will make a signing for that position before carrick leaves.
