So, no Liam Delap, but we could lumber him with Sancho for £25m.
I am now wondering if the mooted Osimhen/ Hojlund+cash switch might actually work out nicely.
I know Osimhen's never been seen in English football and will command high wages, but he is a quick, direct, mobile and agile striker who can mix it across the front line.
If, and I know if is absolutely the operative word, but if the club could somehow convince Osimhen and Mbeumo to join, then that could be an electric attack, no?
However, I'm starting to fall into the giddy bucket now - what a plank.

I can not believe that Napoli would actually do that. It has to be completed ?.

The problem we've had this season is that we cannot score goals. You win games by scoring more than the opposition. I cannot believe we were even contemplating going for another maybe. We need to transform our front line and add a goal scorer and 2 number 10s.
A message to the board. Stop messing around and sort it out. Turn those 1 - 0 losses I to 3 - 1 wins. We know what we need now get it done or look forward to a relegation scrap.

TopBomin, judging by the rumours I think the clubs plan is to add as many goalscorers as we can.
We've got Cunha all wrapped up, just need to file the paperwork. While we are supposedly pushing hard for Mbeumo. If we could get him as well then we will have added two forwards who between than have managed 35 league goals and 13 assists this season.
That's a massive upgrade without even adding a striker. It also takes the pressure off of any striker we sign. The plan seems to have been for that to be Delap. It would be a massive burden to expect a 22 year old striker to come in and carry the goalscoring responsibility almost on their own. But if they have two guys either side of them who will get 30+ goals between them then it reduces that burden on the striker.
I think that's the sensible way to go this summer as there are so few top class strikers available, and given the competition for them we will struggle to sign one of them. Meaning we will either have to go for a striker in that next bracket down or a young less proven striker with potential. Either way we cannot afford to leave the goalscoring burden on them. Getting two high scoring No.10/ wide forwards type players makes a huge amount of sense. Also let's not forget there was a Liverpool team that did very well with two wide forwards who'd both score 15-20 leagues goals each along with a striker who didn't score as many but helped knit the attack together. In a world where there are few top quality striker options we might have to find more creative solutions.
