I imagine all this Yaya talk is just for more cash, but what do you think it would take to get him?

The problems are age (for some) and obviously money - but he would transform our team in one move and would be worth 2 top class signings. If he is unsettled then boy would he be a coup, especially as he is particularly close to his brother and he might want to stay in the North West.

I reckon £40mil, £200k a week, captaincy and 5 year contract. Worth a punt if you ask me.

1.) 21 May 2014
40 mil for a 31 year old. some deals are just not worth it! plus we would look persons if he rejected us

2.) 21 May 2014
R u joking, i'm not sure

3.) 21 May 2014
£40m for a 31 year old spoiled brat, no thanks.

4.) 21 May 2014
Was wondering how long and who would post that kind of message. No way is that or should that happen. Total prima donna. Five year contract! Beast, whatever you're smoking man, I'd lay off it, especially in the mornings. Do we really want a player who has a hissy fit because he didn't get a party bag! I wish Keano was still playing, he would destroy Yaya over that one!

5.) 21 May 2014
Not joking Jred but obviously its a massive reach. It does seem a lot but I think you would get 4 years out of him at least, he would be immense and exactly what we need. That goes for any team to be fair. Not to mention the likes of Powell training with him everyday would do wonders for him.

It would be his last contract Syd so wouldn't worry about petulance after that.

We'd make a load in sponsorships in Africa as well and no doubt open up millions of new fans as the continent continues to get more investment. Probably pay for itself.

6.) 21 May 2014
I honestly thought u where joking

7.) 21 May 2014
He has thrown his toys out of the pram because he wasn't wished happy birthday. No matter how good he is I wouldn't want the spoilt little runt anywhere near the club. He's 31 for christ sake and he's moaning a big enough deal wasn't made over his birthday. A 6 year old wouldn't act like it.

8.) 21 May 2014
It is crazy maybe playing too much Footy Manager, but if there is the slightest chance we should take it.

But seriously with Kroos & potentially Fab we would dominate anyway, no opposition would touch the ball.

9.) 21 May 2014
Beast, loads of sponsorship money from Africa, are you serious? I've heard it all now.

The only way I would want Yaya is if he was a free transfer. £40m for a 31 year old?

That's crazy talk. Giving a 5-year multi-million deal to a 31 year old spoilt brat is suicide.

Id rather find the next yaya to be honest. We don't have a good record with African players.

11.) 21 May 2014
Chippy, to be fair the "birthday" thing is just a smokescreen. We know that they mentioned his birthday on Twitter, we know that they presented him with a cake and sang him happy birthday. He is either itching for a move or he is doing a Tevez and hoping to get a salary on par with Aguero. He knows at 31 he doesn't have long left. He wants is final big pay off.

Going off the agents comments it isn't the fact he wasn't wished a happy birthday or bought a cake or had his hand shook its to do with that the club didn't get him an expensive gift. The agent made a big deal that the president of Anzhi bought Roberto Carlos a Bugatti for his birthday. The guy is a total mercenary and is either angling for a pay rise or an excuse to bog off for a last big pay day elsewhere. A player i'd rather avoid no matter how talented.

13.) 21 May 2014
It is crazy maybe playing too much Footy Manager,
Beast

I agree with that I think the same applies to robben .
We all want to see top players at united but we haven't got unlimited cash .
Imo you don't build teams by throwing bags of money at players coming to the end of there careers .
We should of went for yaya when he left barce and robben when he left madrid but we never.
Like some one above we should be looking for the next robben and yaya

14.) 21 May 2014
Syd - Africa is the next SE Asia & India, and if you get in there now you will benefit for a generation. There is loads of money being pumped in, China is investing there more than anywhere else. Zimbabwe gets more investment from China than any country in Africa and that was a dead dog a couple of years ago. Japan pushing hard over there, the US, France, us, even Brazil, matter of time before mega money is flowing around and football will be a massive cash cow.

All the kids play football, many speak English or are learning - they are all watching the Prem.

I would love us to explore the potential over there, invest in academies etc. Undoubtedly our commercial people will be looking into how to tap that market, buying the best African player would certainly help that progress and would pay for itself. It will enable us to attract the future Yaya's and Drogba's before they reach the big time or move to France. I bet PSG & Monaco have affiliations already.

15.) 21 May 2014
Beast, we already have soccer schools in Africa and we have already tapped into some African ventures. Globocom being one of them.

16.) 21 May 2014
The Beast,

Your posts are getting worse as they go along. Do you support Manchester United the football club or Manchester United the business?

I agree with beast in the sense its an untapped resource we should be looking at the next generation of African talent. Imagine finding the African januzaj? Its an area we should be looking into as opposed the the last few years focus on south America.

Jred that was me that said about finding the next yaya. I agree to a point on not signing aging superstars but I could see the value in signing perhaps just one like robben.

18.) 21 May 2014
I wonder if his head has been turned by his agent, trying to get him away from City for one last payday for both of them. City would struggle to replace him, so here's hoping.

19.) 21 May 2014
Jred - the problem is whilst we look for players like the best, our competitors are signing players who ARE the best. This is how we got into this mess in the first place, Nani, Anderson, Jones, Smalling, Hernandez, Fabio - these players were the next Ronaldo, Scholes, Rio, Vidic, Rooney, Evra - but in reality they are nowhere near. We spend £10m-£20m on most of them and end up with squad players or worse and waste 4-5 years getting them to that. If we want to compete domestically not to mention Europe we need proven top class now to steady the ship. That includes the likes of Robben.

It's all well and good investing in decent potential or good players, but we need an injection of quality. Fabregas, Kroos, Robben, Hummels, are proven quality. 3 of which have plenty of years left so I agree mid-20's is fine, but you then have to look at what our competitors are doing. You won't get a better winger than Robben at the moment, Ronaldo & Messi aren't available. we have 2 years at least out of him.

Yaya is a fantasy but he would be immense and I wouldn't baulk at £40mil for 3-4 years, and as mentioned that can be offset with sponsorships, merchandise and benefit to youngsters blossoming rather than wasting away.

20.) 21 May 2014
Ok I'll leave this one now as I'm boring myself.

Syd asked are you for real with Africa so I explained. Obviously the simple point is that I think there are many benefits for going after Yaya.

21.) 21 May 2014
Beast
Kroos 24
Fabergas 27
Shaw 20.

I would also like any of
Hummels 25
Martinez 25
Reus 24
Sanchez 25.

There are plenty of players out there that could be bought at a good age and we could build a team with .
No need to be buying robben and yaya at 30+ years old

22.) 21 May 2014
I agree with Jred,

Shockingly Shaw is just 18.

23.) 21 May 2014
Some funny posts on here today. A bit of football withdrawal and a few posters have entered a strange parallel universe. Seek therapy Beast. Yaya? Fellaini!
Don't worry, the World Cup is round the corner and then a couple of week's to the start of the season.
I went to football match in Ghana a few years ago, absolutely mental! Definitely not the future!

24.) 21 May 2014
City would rather keep him in reserves rather then sell him to anyone, to think we could sign him is just silly talk come back down to earth haha
