Caolan, couldn't agree more regarding RVP and for me one of the best in the world. Also think he can play on for a good few years yet.

Onto your second point. Bambi on ice can't finish his dinner, slight problem if you want to play up top. I recon is welbeck started every league game up front he wouldn't get 20 goals.

2.) 02 Jun 2014
The reason I believe Sturridge is better is because he has more to his game (plays in multiple positions), RVP throws a tantrum when players run in "his channel", what on earth is all that about? Sturridge already has a better goals/games ratio than RVP and he's six years younger and is nowhere near his peak, whereas RVP has peaked and will only decline now, Sturridge has great technical ability, blistering pace, versatility and great composure/finishing.

As for RVP being the most technically gifted striker, I'd put Suarez, Lewandowski and Aguero ahead of him.

Welbeck has more potential than Sturridge? that's got to be joke of the century, there's a reason the majority of your own fans have been bashing Welbeck, he has no ability to control a ball, he has abysmal composure when in on goal, he lacks everything a striker needs.

Stand United, I just feel he showed his promise when rvp was out over Christmas when he got 6 in 6 and when he played up top on the opening day he scored twice. I feel he needs to work on his composure because when it's an instinctive finish he's usually more accurate but when he has time he really can make a hash of things lol

It's a shame the banter got deleted earlier, I presume somebody got offensive but I thought it was some of the better banter on here for a while with Liverpool fans getting reeled in and spouting more and more rubbish to try and prove some kind of point. I enjoyed it and wanted people like AJH to have a good read of it, he would have enjoyed it I'm sure.

One of the posts stated that rvp is no longer the player he was, so I pointed out he was the top goalscorer in the World Cup qualifiers and is only 30 with plenty of time ahead of him.

Plymouth,

You are actually still banging that drum, nobody in the world except Liverpool fans think that sturridge is anywhere near the level of rvp. You are so deluded it's unreal.

I would say most united fans who watch welbeck every week appreciate what he does for the team, everybody knows his limitations but he puts 110% in every week and never stops running. Like a younger better dirk kuyt, somebody the fans like but opposition fans don't understand what he does.

6.) 03 Jun 2014
Plymouth, so rvp had a tantrum?! What about Suarez saying he wanted to leave or gerrard etc. Sturridge has one season were he out scored van Persie. He played more games as he had less injuries so surely he should score more goals? You Sturridge has immense technical ability, I don't see it? He can be very clumsy on the ball, his hold up isn't fantastic, he's not very versatile as he proved for Chelsea when he played on the right he was usually ineffective. He also misses a lot of chances too. To think he's better than Van Persie is just a classic case of overhyping him because he's English. Don't get me wrong I don't think he's a bad player, but he will be doing well to even get close to Robin's level. How you can say he has peaked, I don't understand this? You'd think he hardly scored a goal last season, 18 in 28 is an excellent return. Ole Solskjaer, Teddy Sheringham, Drogba, Alan Shearer all scored goals when they were beyond the age of 30 because they adapted their games, something Robin has done since his younger days at arsenal. Can Sturridge do that, I don't know.

7.) 03 Jun 2014
Well the silly scousers have claimed gerrard to be better than scholes for so many years so i'm not shocked.they can't see past there own dustbins.

8.) 03 Jun 2014
Caolan, RVP has clearly peaked, he will no longer improve, saying Sturridge has clumsy control and he can't play multiple positions, did you actually watch him at all this season apart from when we played you?.

9.) 03 Jun 2014
He can play different positions but he is only good as a striker. I will reserve judgement till after next season because I think liverpool will struggle next season just my opinion and if they do he short comings will be more apparent to liverpool fans. Rvp has peaked but the important thing is he has stayed at his peak he was a big miss for us most of last season.

Plymouth red Sturridge is a good player but not a great one, to be released by City and Chelsea says something isn't right there, he's got no vision his passing is very inconsistant all he does is run with his head down then shoot! It works sometimes but he will be found out you watch this year he will score no more than 15 goals! He's had one good season and as they say one swallow doesn't make a summer. I'd put him as a better striker than welbeck but gives allot less for the team.

03 Jun 2014 08:35:36
We shall see Plymouth. I just feel your mentality is one good season and Liverpool players are the best thing since sliced bread

12.) 03 Jun 2014
Aguro Van Persie Suarez Ibrahamovic Lewandowski top 5 strikers in the world

Plymouth, I think Sturridge is a good player and will score around 20 in all comps for Liverpool next season. However, he is one of the players who needs 3/4 good chances to score 1. In games where you are dominant or in games where you have more quality than the opposition he will do well. In the games where the opposition are as good or better then I don't think he will do anything.

Prime example of him not being very clinical was against United at OT last season. He had 4/5 chances but didn't score.

He has plenty of ability but I wouldn't say he's a player you would rely on to score big goals in big games and I think he'll prove this at the World Cup where I don't think he'll score against either Uruguay or Italy.

RVP on the other hand is a top class forward who has shown on all stages he can score goals. Next season he'll be our top scorer with 30 plus so long as he stays fit.

14.) 03 Jun 2014
Sturridge actually had a great record this season vs the top 7, can RVP stay fit for a season, that's the question.

15.) 03 Jun 2014
Oh my. Sturridge is now in the same leage as RVP LOL.

Seriously, I

16.) 03 Jun 2014
Seriously, PR, what are sniffing mate?

17.) 03 Jun 2014
Can Sturridge stay fit? He's got a worrying injury record himself.

RvP went a whole season at Arsenal without injury, then a whole season at MU without injury. That's two years without an injury. He suffered a calf injury last season, but can you blame him for his knee injury? That tackle from the Olympiakos player would have damaged any player's knee.

Plymouth Red you're everything that's so annoying about Liverpool fans. You're delusional at the best of times.
It's an argument that can never be resolved between rival fans about who is better than who from each team. But let's be honest you threw the title away as "Big Game Stevie G" blew it for you along with your defensive frailties. I saw literally loads of Liverpool flags flying from peoples houses after you beat Spurs 4-0 in March celebrating your title win!! That's arrogant & deluded & we may have had our worst seaon in years but i'd go through that time & time again just to see your lot BOTTLE IT each season.

19.) 03 Jun 2014
Spiritof76m that's why you'll never overtake our trophy haul, you're all obsessed with Liverpool and rightly so, even in your dominatant period, you'd still rather see Liverpool lose than your own club succeed.

Sam I made a valid arguement and your comeback is "what are you sniffing", how about you analyse both their statisitics like I have and explain to me constructively why you disagree, can you manage that?

20.) 03 Jun 2014
03 Jun 2014 16:39:43
Plymouth since when have statistics been the been everything. Gerrard has one goal from open play this year, same amout as Carrick. This goes to show statistics don't mean everything. Mate we aren't obsessed with Liverpool, it's your obsession with us that makes us want you to lose! Please tell me you amazing trophy haul, because we've won more league titles, more fa cups and more Champions league titles, which are much harder to win that the old European Cup. We would probably be ahead of you lot if it wasn't for munich.

21.) 03 Jun 2014
Liverpool = 60

Manchester United = 62

22.) 03 Jun 2014
03 Jun 2014 17:49:34
Plymouth red if you are going to state stats on here about goal per game ratio according to both their websites here are the stats

RVP
84 games 43 goals for holland
304 club games 149 goals
So on both roughly a 1 in 2 ratio

DS
11 games 4 goals for England
144 club games 47 goals
Again roughly 1 in 3 ratio!!

So if you are going to compare players from your over achieving club then at least make it Suarez who's record is very similar to RVP but is probably a better all round player just a shit human being!

23.) 03 Jun 2014
Sydney, Liverpool have won more major honours. Caolan the European cup was much harder to win than the UCL, for starters you had to win the league in order to compete in the EC, whereas now you can scrape fourth spot and have a chance at winning it, in the EC you we're against champions of every European league, now you can scrape through to the semi's playing teams like Basel, Olympiacos etc, if you get the luck of the draw.

I see people saying "yes but in the EC you played rubbish teams like Steaua Bucharest", but people fail to realise that in the 70's and 80's these we're top top teams, top players didn't all join a specific set of leagues like they do today (EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga).

24.) 03 Jun 2014
Caolan if it wasn't for Munich, you would of won a few more without doubt, but if FIFA didn't ban us from Europe due to their hatred of England, we would certainly of won a few with Daglish's team of Barnes, Aldridge and Beardsley, we could also argue that if the unfortunate and tragic event (hillsborough) didn't occur, you wouldn't of took "our perch" so easily, as Dalglish wouldn't of resigned due to the stress.

25.) 03 Jun 2014
03 Jun 2014 18:35:41
Plymouth,

I don't think you want to even go there, if you think we were banned from Europe because FIFA hate England you need to go and read back through the history books. Maybe an Italian one rather than a Liverpool one, as you might get a more realistic version of events.

I can't even talk to you anymore after that pathetic post.

26.) 03 Jun 2014
Tucker, I based their stats at United and Liverpool respectively, as at their previous clubs they've both been used out of position, Sturridge especially, since Sturridges move to Liverpool and RVP's move to United, Sturridge has a great goal to game ratio, at the age of 24 whereas his peer is 30 years of age, RVP will steadily decline now, whereas Sturridge will rapidly improve, I know who I'd rather have.

27.) 03 Jun 2014
Plymouth, van Persie is a classy player who plays with his brain, and doesn't rely on things such as raw pace. This is why Walcott will never be a striker. How can you say he is in decline, what's he got to lose from his game? Never had great pace. But he won't lose his sensational technical ability, just look at scholes and Giggs for an example of that. He's also not going to forget were the goal is, no great striker does. If Sturridge is better surely he would have won you lot the league, just like van Persie did for us.
