Thought young played very well in 2nd half. But in my opinion, we still need a tricky and fast right winger, a strong centre forward and a centre back. Without them, we'll have no chance of finishing in top 4.
One close window against a poor Swansea side doesn't prove anything.

Most of the season we've been making do with one fully fit CB, huge mistake for us and we've covered up our defensive limitations by playing two cdms. Personally, however, I think it will be difficult to buy players who can make a difference in January, but one change we can make is giving Schneiderlin a bit more freedom. At the moment he's being forced to sit in front of the defence, which is ridiculous for one of the best box-to-box mids in the league. In fact, the positional rigidity is one of the things that's most damaging to us.

Plus no more 3 at the back, the experiment doesn't work no matter how many times it's repeated.

Don't get me wrong, I admire the way Young has put his head down, worked hard and tried his best, despite a few brickbats coming his way over the years.

But, I was never fussed about signing him, and think it shows sort of where we are at the minute, when a rather limited player is being lauded as one of our better players.

It's no reflection on him, but rather, a damning indictment on our current position in domestic and European football.

Noucamp - I agree, and for how long this has been the case is a disgrace. Almost 3 years now we have been saying that Young has been one of our best players.

He wouldn't even make the B team of most of our competitors.

Spot on. We have good players but not world class bar DDG. I do think a 'freed up' Herrera and Schneiderlin could prove themselves to be the best midfielders in the league. Schweinsteiger has been a beast of a player in his time but he looks out of condition. Rooney has been poor for ages. Let's not let one classy flick fool us about that.

I firmly believe you need a world class spine to win anything or be like Barcelona and have a world class front 3.

We are miles away from winning the Prem let alone Europe. And we definitely won't do the latter unless some world class additions are made.
