If we didn't sign anyone in January and still ended up in top 4 would you be happy?

I have a feeling that the board are clearing money owed on previous transfers before re investing.

Highest wage bill in the league, 2nd or 3rd highest wage bill in the world.

Probably have 27/ 28 first team players on the books let alone some promising young players. The squad is very bloated full of a lot of average players.

Its all about getting players out of the door before we even think about getting any in.

Yes rather not sign a player for the sake of signing a player from now on they must be a Manchester United player! not just 'names'.

{Ed025's Note - i cant see united buying anyone this window steve, if they are planning to replace the manager (which seems likely) the new guy will want to pick his own players mate..

Top 4 is where this squad should be. We are well short of being title contenders but have enought to be top 4. They were 2nd last season.
We don't need new signings to be in the top 4. We need new signings in order to win the league or cl and as others will improve we will need new signings just to maintain top 4.

But the scattergun approach had failed. Big money tied up on 7 or 8 players that never even play. They are soft and are simply not good enogh. i'd rather sell them if we can and have 4 really good players backed up by youth. Darmian jones rojo fellaini pierera valencia sadly mata have no future at the club imo, apart from jones none of them are 1st or 2nd choice for their position. All decent players good pros try hard but for what they cost i'd rather bring in 4 higher calibre players and pad the squad with tuanzebe chong gomez garner.
But i agree with ed025 the new manager must have the final say. That may well be osg but its way to early to tell that. Therefore too early to sign players we have to overpay for in Jan .

What 4 really good players would u have? And waiting for a manager and for him to pick the players he wants seems like its going to be a hectic window. And is there a shortage of world class defenders if so its a v difficult window, only my opinion what do u think?

For me we only need 3 to Improve us to the Man C, Liverpool level. They would be:
CB Kalidou koulibly
RB pireirra (Leicester) to support Dalot
DM Kante - not going to happen I know

That would make us very good and would allow a few players to move on. We have enough up forward and young forwards coming through who can play RW.

Matic can still play at a high level for atleast 2 years provided he is adequately rested between games.
Only he has the physical presence and calmness to play the defensive midfield role currently.
Mctominay and Andreas have struggled in that position.
A solid back 4 would significantly improve the squad as a whole.
