Ed001, the incident with the Brazilian player and the Ref is shocking, have you seen the footage? The guy needs the book throwing at him. Although attempted murder seems like a slight stretch.

What is your take on the Newcastle takeover?

{Ed001's Note - I did see the footage and it was shocking, I do agree though not sure of Brazilian law regarding attempted murder though.

They will follow the blueprint laid down by City but they are years behind with a club with a culture of failure to turn around. First thing they will need to do is buy some names to attract better players. That won't be easy, as who will want to go there and be years away from winning things unless they are not in a position to win things anyway?}

Morning ed001. What's your views on Newcastle going forward? Do you think they'll be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years?

When Chelsea and City started their ascendancy to the top, The best players were costing £30/ 40 million. Now a player with potential is £80 million.

I think City made it look easy but I'm sure there was a lot of hard work behind the scenes. Will Newcastle be able to replicate it?

{Ed001's Note - I expect Newcastle to try and replicate it almost exactly. They will spend fortunes in the area around the stadium as well as on players, but they have a larger fanbase to work with. They also have many years of investment to catch up on, so it won't be easy, not until they get somewhere near competitiveness. I am thinking they will be looking at teams like Barca to cherry pick some of their better players while they are in huge debt and can't afford to say no.

I would be surprised if they were competitive for a few years yet though. First off they have to survive this season, then they can start to build. If they go down, that sets them back a long way.}

AFTERNOON FOLKS- Re newcastle: I live about 15 miles from the ground and was FORCED to watch John Tudor, Supermac etc as a kid whilst always being a MUFC fan so have lived with the wannabe mentality all my life!
Finally they have new owners, but feel they are already planning champions league winners parties as we speak which is so far from reality. City spent 1/ 2 billion getting the defense right and were able to attract players much easier than Newcastle irregardless of the money so think it will take much longer to get success.
Best of wishes for the fans of the club served with medicrity for so long but have no words for the glut stuck in 1996: its often said man utd fans can be bitter/ toxic?
Question for the eds if you can clarify- surely the wealth of the owners doesn't dictate the spend or value of the club does it?
