1.) 09 Sep 2013
I can't see us getting rid of Welbeck.

IF we did get Benteke I could see us selling Young, Kagawa and Hernandez and then getting Ronaldo in the summer along with Central Midfielder. maybe Gundogan for Kagawa?

2.) 09 Sep 2013
I can see Young being the winger that's sold and Hernandez leaving because I don't see him getting too many games and it's not really fair on him given what a quality player he is. If we got Ronaldo and Benteke with Coentrao and Hererra in January I would be one happ supporter.

3.) 09 Sep 2013
Ahhh Benteke, our answer to Victor Anichebe ;)

4.) 09 Sep 2013
I take it you don't rate him then Syd? For me, behind RVP, he's probably one of the most clinical finishers in the League.

5.) 09 Sep 2013
I think he is a beast and in our team would be a handful and an excellent signing. I doubt very much Villa would let him go unless we pay 25 million or more. He might even go for much higher next summer after the world cup.

6.) 09 Sep 2013
Sydney, really benteke the same as anichebe?

I personally think benteke would be a very good buy. Power and pace would be a nice contrast to rvp's finess.

I love the little pea, but if he could be used in a swap deal for ronaldo (the pea + cash) then we should let him go.

7.) 09 Sep 2013
Benteke is not great, he has no first touch, no football brain and will be a one season wonder. He will get goals just because he is the focal point of attack and is strong and quick, but if you watch him play regularly his game has a lot of poor aspects - nowhere near Utd class.

Probably why he is still at Villa with a lot of top clubs needing strikers during the last window.

Great for a Villa, the same as Holt was good for Norwich! But I bet we are in her for him more than we would be Levandowski, we will get muscled out of that one again next season.

8.) 09 Sep 2013
Fresh, I like Benteke, my point was Moyes is turning us into Everton.

Also there is zero chance Benteke would play behind RvP. It would be the other way round.

9.) 09 Sep 2013
Benteke would be perfect for what Moyes is doing making a big powerful team and yes he is like Anichebe but if they were cars he would be the Hummer and Anichebe the a famers old beat up land rover

10.) 09 Sep 2013
Kate, what would Lewandowski have been? Shame we couldn't convince him to join.

11.) 09 Sep 2013
Fresh I think Michu's clinical finishing is of higher quality than Benteke to be honest. Benteke has more strength but Michu is a smarter player, better poacher too. All that aside I think Chica should be given the number 9 shirt.

12.) 09 Sep 2013
I remember a player that had similar problems in his game.MrSween says no first touch no football brain.Does this remind anyone of Andy Cole when we first signed him.Cole was only any good at putting the ball in the net at Newcastle, we developed him into a good all round player. So it can be done, just need the right coaching and a bit of luck.

13.) 09 Sep 2013
I too have thought he is similar to Cole - can see many similarities. If Chicha does go, which to be honest I think he will through lack of games, then Benteke is the best player out there that we could get our hands on.

14.) 09 Sep 2013
Syd I agree we are turning into a better Everton next I can see us buying a better Leon Osman and start hoofing sh1t up the field

15.) 09 Sep 2013
IanO - I see your point about Cole, but I think the game has moved on since then. Cole relied on a lot of chances being created to get his goals, still quality at times, but we had better players at the club to work with and the other teams were nowhere near Utd, now there are 10-12 teams that would give us a good game most weeks, it's very rare we give teams a hiding anymore.

We rarely create more than 4-5 good chances a game nowadays, so we need players that have a brain and good touch to make the most of possession. Hopefully Fellaini will help provide the space by sucking in 2-3 opposing players so we can create more chances now.

Benteke isn't going to be right for us in my opinion. I see him at Liverpool, the next Heskey.

16.) 10 Sep 2013
Syd, I don't think he'd be our anichibe, I think he'd be our Drogba! And he'd fit in nicely with our growing Belgium group.

17.) 10 Sep 2013
Poor old Benteke First he is the new Anichebe then Heskey and I don't think either of them have any were near his goal scoring record or ability he has hit the ground running and I think he would be the best striker option from the prem for us agree Syd Lewan would or should be better but the chances are small as every body excpects him to sign for Bayern and I don't think there is as much between him and Benteke as some mite think

18.) 10 Sep 2013
Tookers, Kate, I am a fan of Benteke. I think he is a good player. My point was Moyes is turning us into Everton and Benteke would be our Anichebe.

19.) 10 Sep 2013
Your right Sydney that Moyes wants to put his own style into the team but its not Evertons style its his he built Everton on the funds he had and now Martinez will do the same, plus Benteke is more Drogba than Anichebe that is for sure all big three are big and strong powerfull players but two can score and the other is a poor mans version that gets very few goals per season, Benteke would get 25 30 goals per season and that's plenty good enough

20.) 10 Sep 2013
Benteke 30 goals, how many would RVP get, Rooney, (I don't think anybody else scores for us)? It's easy saying he will get X amount of goals but at what cost elsewhere, we would need to create chances and we simply don't, he is nowhere near as clinical as RVP so I don't understand the logic of him scoring the same amount as RVP!

If we sign Ronaldo, he should get 30 goals, RVP 25, Rooney 20, Fellaini 10. Goals galore, but who's' going to create them?

We need a couple of seasons to ship out the old wood/useless wood and then Moyse can implement his desired tactics, bring in his players, bleed the youth etc, at the minute it's all over the place. Benteke would contribute to the mess.

21.) 10 Sep 2013
Benteke is fantastic at holding the ball up, he is still quite rough around the edges and comparisons to Drogba have base but I would say personally even as a Villa fan, he has to prove himself this season and in the World Cup. If he has a world cup - i'm sure his agent will be trying to get him a bumper deal at another club. Fair warning: Villa fans will say he's worth £40m + because that is what he is worth to us, not necessarily that is he worth that to all others, perhaps £30m but Lerner will never sell for that as that's what the asking price was this summer, so next summer - could be £50m perhaps. Silly inflated fee's!

22.) 11 Sep 2013
I for one have enjoyed the debate over whether Benteke would be a good signing for us. He is only 22 and had one season in the Pl so guess both sides of the argument are right however didn't the article say he would the type of powerful forward to replace Rooney should he be sold? So hoping we don't need to bid for him Jan.
I agree with MrSeen we need players who will to create more chances

23.) 11 Sep 2013
To be fair if we had ronaldo rooney and rvp up top then the chances would be created for each other, a bit like when we had ronaldo, tevez, berba and rooney. we'd just out score everyone

24.) 11 Sep 2013
Im a Liverpool fan and it is so funny to hear how you think your going to get Ronaldo any time soon he will be signing a new contract with Real in the next couple of months, and JK92 are you being serious like you are going to sign Benteke, Ronaldo and Gundogan, You couldn't even get baines, Ozil chose Arsenal, David Moyes is a 2 bit manager who foreign players don't know or respect, so the days of winning games with not the best side and being able to sign anyone in the world are now gone because manchester united do not have the pulling power to sign these players anymore, Fergie has gone and you are not the same team you need to realise this.

25.) 11 Sep 2013
Steve8 the hate is mutual but you are deluding yourself if you think we are finished as a force we will finish above you in the league and nine out of ten players had the choice of the red of united or the red of scouse well I don't have to say who they would chose and we probably are interested in Benteke hence why he didn't sign for Tottenham he waiting for one of the big three and unfortunately for you your not in that three were as we are still at the top of that three by by for now and enjoy fighting it out for a Europa league slot this season

26.) 11 Sep 2013
Manchester United will always attract the top players. Stevie8, Ronaldo might sign a new contract but he will come back eventually, he wants to as has been reported by reputable Portuguese Journalists. The top players are lining up to play for the mighty Brendan Rogers are they? Lol, jokes aside, we have a side capable of winning the title, no matter what the Pool supporters and other ABUs say. We didn't bid for Ozil because we didn't want him, Fabregas is the only player we've missed out on this summer because he's the only player we have purposefully gone after despite what the ABU press try to make people believe. Enjoy your further plunge into obscurity now that Spurs have a better squad than you and Suarez will leave you by the start of next season.

27.) 12 Sep 2013
For one Real madrid and Ozil have came out and said manchester united were after him but after a phone call from Wenger he chose them, for two Ronaldo will come back at about 32 to play his last year so that's not exciting really and I haven't once said we are anywhere near the finished article and I understand we are a developing team after 5 - 7 years of outragous spending on poor players, but i'm not delirous I know we are building for the future but prodigal are you serious? a side capable of winning the league? yeah maybe under fergie. And as for being a title winning side you have Rafael, Rooney and Van Persie that Liverpool would take and your words are we will be fighting for europa league, where does that leave you, you have no tactics going forward other than wheres van persie (as seen against us). I have not once compared you to Liverpool just saying you need to realise, you are not the same team you were under fergie, welcome to the real world of being a football fan and not having an immortal as manager who with whatever team he has wins trophys and leagues, and as for spurs they have a better side than you aswel prodigal you clown.

28.) 12 Sep 2013
Stevie, Liverpool frighten no-one, I know for sure - going to Old Trafford will in my mind as a Villa supporter be a loss. Sturridge & Coutinho!? oh please! Gerrard? he's 34 this year.
United have Rooney, RVP, De Gea, Vidic etc. the list goes on. Moyes is a manager which I really rate & in time - he will be successful. Every team has rough patches but United are not your average team and will come out as Champions, three times over before someone with sense puts odd's on Liverpool winning the title. Get some common sense lad!
