This is not a hoax. Well it might be but it's not my hoax. Floating around on Twitter as we speak:

Gareth Southgate is in talks with a Premier League club re becoming their new manager.

Please let it not be us if true?.

Please tell me it isn't us.

Let it be Newcastle as Conte is a done deal to Spurs.

I don't think I'll be able to stomach it.

Fml.

I doubt very much if Southgate would consider leaving before the world Cup.
He has done really well with England imo. Well better than any other manager ever bar 1.
Has England competing better than ever before.
Not my cup of tea but I can see why there would be interest. He is doing a good job.

Ken

The failed relegated Middlesbrough manager replacing the failed relegated Cardiff manager. All I need to do is cut and paste changing Boro for Cardiff. Southgate plays the same safety first football so would not mean too much change. Great.

He has also achieved way more than anyone else bar Sir Alf did with England. I would say its almost certain that English clubs will go after him and big teams at that.

I know he has taken some criticism but I think he has done well for Emgland and he comes across extremely well, he is certai ly going to attract interest for the way he conducts himself as well.

I am not saying that I personally would choose him but that I can totally understand why the board might.

I think he is a damn sight better manager than Ole and would achieve a lot more. Do I think he is in the class of a Klopp or Ten Haag? No I don't but there would be worse options as well.

He would not be for me redman. International diurnal is a different type of job as you say he did bit do well at boro but he had done a good job for England and I can see why he would be looked at.
I would not advocate more than a fleeting look.
