Everyone is getting a bit too excited imo. (Especially Fresh!)

Surely Reus will not be allowed to leave this year? Not in the same year where Lewandowski and probably Hummels (to barcelona) are leaving. Next year might be a bit more realistic. It simply isn't as simple as throw money at them and they will sell as some seem to think. Di Maria could be an interesting option though.

Kroos will again prove to be difficult since Bayern want a new deal (probably what he wants too). If they finally pay him what he wants, he will no doubt stay. If they don't, other clubs would surely be interested and willing to pay? Without Champions League football, again this one looks difficult. Would Barcelona with all the politics let Fabregas go and will he join us? Again seems wishful thinking to me.

Shaw seems the most likely one to me. Chelsea seem to be looking elsewhere now. But again, agreeing a price with Southampton will prove to be difficult but I think he will be the Fellaini of this window for us and we will finally end up paying the asking price.

Mangala and Ginter seem to be moving to City and Dortmund from what the media is suggesting. With LVG's bad history with South Americans, Garay doesn't seem likely as well. There is no clarity on what center backs are going to be targeted.

I hope we don't give new deals to Evra or Ferdinand. They have been great servants to the club but time has come for both the club and them to move on. Nani, Young and Anderson leaving would put a little smile on my face. It has been painful watching them in a United shirt for the last 3 years.

I can only hope that we move quickly in the market and have 3-4 signed before the WC, have a clear strategy and have no repeat of last summer. We seem to have wasted the best part of month in terms of transfer preparation with the Moyes sacking.

Perhaps it is just me with all our epic failures of the last few summer windows being pessimistic and these situations might change once a new manager is announced this week.

Certainly is shaping to be the most interesting summer window in the club's history as we draw curtains on this disastrous season. Hope Wilson scores again today.

Van Gaal will demand certain players and we need four or five. I fully expect us to get those players. A left back, centre back, winger and two central midfielders I think are needed.

Hey guys not posted in ages but been checking the posts recently and looking forward to next season already.

Totally agree with RF, not sure what is making some people get so carried away. I'm delighted we are in for some of these players but let's be realistic we ain't getting them all, especially having finished with no CL footy next yr.

Imo we need a lb, 2 cm, CB and lw. So long as we sort out say 4 of those positions this summer and supplement the squad with youth we should be good to go.

If we sign reus or kroos etc. I will be delighted but I can't see us pulling off a long list of players all of that calibre. Hopefully me and RF are talking nonsense but i'm not getting my hopes up as high as some on here.

Bring on lvg with woody's checkbook let's see what he can do!

This summer will be different to previous summers RF. MU know they have to bring in the sufficient quality and the owners are willing to sanction it. MU are talking to clubs about their players. That is important here. There will not be any significant movement until LvG is named manager. LvG if announced will be announce Wednesday/Thursday time this week and I think we will see us start making moves for players the week after. I think at least two will be agreed before the WC. That's just my opinion though.

In terms of Reus, I would not discount him because it may be that Dortmund want one of our players and that could give us the leverage it needs?

Fabregas would be interesting, I read that his own fans have been booing him so I don't think Barcelona would be castigated by their fans for selling him. Also they will want to strengthen in other areas so our money may be handy. Whether we could get him would be another matter. Arsenal would have a pull although they have more than enough midfield players of his ilk and may want to spend elsewhere.

I would not assume who City will be buying because as I understood it they missed Fridays deadline to accept the settlement on FFP from UEFA so see what happens. Will UEFA show their teeth or let them off? 8 out the 9 clubs accepted the settlement but City did not.

I know you say we seem to have wasted the best part of a month, but I would suspect we may have been working on targets and if we have a high profile manager coming in then it may be easier to attract better players. I think the club will have learned from last seasons fiasco and it wouldn't surprise me if along with the new manager there will be several new faces and perhaps the big sponsorship announcement.

I am far far more positive this May than last May.

Sydney

I'm thankful you stated at the end of your post that it was only your opinion as I was starting to think you was maybe someone important to the club phew.

6.) 11 May 2014
Nelly, just using common sense. LvG is busy up until Wednesday with Holland and MU will not want to start agreeing deals for players until the manager's in place. Common sense.

7.) 11 May 2014
Completely agree with RF. People are getting to carried away and are confusing what they want to happen with what will happen. People saying they are certain, or fully expect certain players to sign for the club. I honestly cannot fathom where they get such confidence from - Fresh and Syd are you guys actually agents or club reps in disguise? ;)

Thing is, and a lot of people are missing this, is we are buying from the weakest position in our history of the PL. The market is horrifically inflated, we don't have Europe, we have no Sir Alex, our stability, consistency and success is finally doubtable. If you're a top player then there are many better options out there then our club at the moment and those clubs are also in the market right now. It's not going to be as easy or as good as everyone hopes it will be. I'm not being pessimistic, I'm just trying to match my expectations to the reality of our situation, rather then the reality we hope for.

8.) 11 May 2014
Raiden, I haven't said I am certain we will sign any player. It's all in your head.

We know where the interest is so that is always a good place to start.

If I am confusing what I want to happen with what I think will happen, then we will sign Ronaldo, Vidal, Kroos, Shaw & Martinez.

Syd
Who do you think we will sign

10.) 11 May 2014
If you read around, listen to some of the 'experts' and use common sense you draw a lot of conclusions that Sydney and myself draw. His logic about when LvG will be appointed makes complete sense. Certain things are obvious:

1) Van Gaal will play a type of 4-3-3.

2) We need a left back, centre back, two central midfielders and a winger (at least) and all need to be world class additions.

These are the two that we can be certain of. Players and rumours such as Kroos, Reus and Shaw fit in with what van Gaal looks for in a player, what we need and seemingly who the club want to buy. Many people agree with this and I think a lot of the deals will happen.

11.) 11 May 2014
I think we are in a good position to buy Shaw and Carvalho depending on what the new manager wants to do. We know there have been talks with BM regarding Kroos. Other than that I don't know.

I would like us to go for Shaw, Carvalho, Kroos, Reus & Hummels, but I am not sure we will. Would be a tidy summer though.

Its going to be some summer then
