Well. I thnk Rashford should start and if and when Micky, settles I thnk he should start. that means that 2 of Mata, Martial, Rooney and Ibra drop out. I'm not that fussed, for me it is more about them starting than who should be dropped.

Come on jred. Same old record with you at this point. A lot of fans aren't impressed with Rooney, for me as long as he assists or scores goals then he is doing his job. It is frustrating to watch him at times especially against hull, he had a shocker in my opinion, a lot worse than any other player on the pitch. But at the end of the day he assisted and scored and that's what he is there to do. There will come a time in my opinion where the question will come if someone i.e Miky can do a better job there and then that's up to Rooney to answer that question. Right now he is doing just enough. But there can be no doubt that his goal and assist are masking his overall decline.

I think Rooney has started the season pretty well personally, seems to look a little more motivated. But if I was picking the best players for each particular position, then Rooney misses out. Ibra and Rashford ahead of Rooney for leading the attack. Mata and Mkhitaryan ahead of Rooney for the hole. Martial, Mata, Mkhitaryan and Rashford ahead of Rooney for the wide spots.

But I do think finding a way for all of them to play together in every game is better for the team. So how Jose is doing it I think it's working.

I think we have a good, well balanced squad. Decent players in all positions. Youth and old, English and foreign. I am really looking forward to this season. I think Fabinho in and we are all but ready. Perhaps one more CB in January or next summer and that's the icing on the cake IMO.

I accept your point on rooney, he is and has always been productive when he's on the pitch. His assist for rashford yesterday was a very good bit of play. I think people are just asking are the poorer aspects of his game outweighing the good he brings to the team.

We all saw the game yesterday and he gave the ball away quite a lot and a lot of our attacks were broken up when he got on the ball. We played much better when he was put on the left and the likes of pogba, mkhitaryan and rashford could pick up the ball in the centre and run at the hull defense.

I think we will eventually move to a 4-3-3 system which will get pogba and martial higher up the pitch where they both want to be and it will allow the striker (ibra or rooney) to drop and collect the ball, thus allowing people to run in behind.

Its fair enough to say we've got 9 out of 9 but we had 6 out of 6 under LVG and people still had plenty to criticise about him and the team.

Also I have noticed the height we now have in the side. If we sign Fabinho in the next couple of days, we have Fabinho, Fellaini, Pogba, Bailly, Smalling, Ibrahimovic and Martial all in the box for corners.

Have to say, it's been a while since we have looked a threat from corners and free-kicks.

It had to come. The only thing more predictable than a Rooney slating is the passionate defence from you jred.
I think he played poorly yesterday but came up with the match winning assist. So it buys him more time.
I think the question is now if we have players who could do better over 90mins than Rooney can do?
Sure he can produce moments of magic still but there is a lot more moments of tragic over 90 mins.
As an impact sub in some games he would be perfect I'd just like to see him start less and let's see if others can provide more over 90mins.

I agree with Ken, even Ronaldinho on the field could produce moments of magic. But it needs to be consistently over 90 minutes and over the course of a season. Which Ronaldinho could not do.

Rooney still has a lot to offer and he's still a good player, but he isn't the best player we have in any of the positions that he plays in. That's not opinion, that's a fact.

Anyway this repetitive subject is kind of boring now. It will keep cropping up because Rooney will keep having average game, but I think we know where everyone stands on this issue now haha.
