We weren't great today and in the second half were pretty shocking. However there were some very odd results today which reflects the impact the international break has had on everyone. Chelsea losing to Palace was a real shock and Arsenal losing, whilst less of a shock, was still probably unexpected. Spurs sneaked a win but what is clear is City are playing a different game to the rest of us right now.

We sit 7 points clear of Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal which is a great position to be in. Spurs are in form but are still 3 points behind us whilst we see City moving ahead. Their record so far is stunning and we can only hope that this purple patch they are having passes soon.

As for our performance today I think Jose should have picked the people who had not played or played only a little. I know we were challenged in central midfield but we had some very tired legs out there; I struggle to think of one of our players who played well (other than DDG) .

A sobering day but as other results show it has not been a normal weekend.

{Ed004's Note - I thought Valencia, Jones and Matic also played well. But the other results today have put our result into perspective. A draw at Anfield is always a good point during the season}

Fair point Ed although Jones almost gave a goal away with a slack pass. It's been a bizarre day, we need to put it behind us and quickly move on. There was a point in the second half when Matic got hold of the ball and seemed to want t take control but I thought overall we lacked leadership and it was a niggly display from us.

I also think Liverpool will win a trophy this year. They are clear favourites for the 'rolling around clutching your face like a 6 year older old girl' Cup. Can and Lovren were pathetic. Can wasn't touched and whilst Lovren was, the 15 rolls were a little too much.

We are really missing Pogba, could do with knowing when he will be back.

{Ed004's Note - Apparently Pogba is due back within next 2 weeks. I thought the ref was poor enough today. Some bizarre decisions especially against Young. It seemed they could be as rough as they wanted but if it was the other way around and anfield jeered he gave Liverpool the decision}

I don't think people are bothered about the result per se, it's more about the manner in which we set out and the execution of the game plan. Personally I am not too bothered about us getting a point simply because it keeps the gap between ourselves and Liverpool to seven points. We were pretty depleted in key areas and I think we had a couple players playing through injury today. But I would have liked us to have a good go today as Liverpool started very shaky too and I just feel we could have gotten more from the game today.

I thought we had a decent first half, we pressed high and whilst they dominated we looked up for it and had our chances. The second half was a different story, I think at some point Jose decided a point was ok and we were pretty awful. I think we need to shake it off and get back on the horse.

Yes AJH, we need to beat Huddersfield and get straight back on track.

I noticed that too ED004, Ashley Young did have some lumps chipped away and seemed to be manhandled and barged in the back quite a few times and got no decisions. The first time he offered the same physicality the referee blew up, very frustrating for a player.

Ajh. You talk about city having a purple patch. It's quite laughable. Guadiola inherited an excellent squad, but he then went and bought excellent players to play his system. The kind that Barcelona played. He has a plethora of top class midfielders who are exceptionally creative. They are tearing teams apart and I had them to win the league by a ten point margin.
This is not a "purple patch". It is what we're going to see most of the time from them. The demonstrated it against Chelsea.
It makes me sick watching how good they are and wishing we had half the talent and a manager who is so intent on attack. It's going to be a long few years as I can only see them getting better. This is not a purple patch, it'll be the norm.
We can either learn from them and try to build our own attacking side or we can do what we did today and hope they slip up, which they won't.

{Ed025's Note - no argument from me there mate..

Schmid
Jose won't play the pep way it's not and never has been his style .

The league will be between city and United imo but then I thought that last season .

How many points did you have city winning the league by last year.

Schmid, I read the first line and knew it was you 🙄.

They started last year like an express train and faded away. Right now they look brilliant but it's still early.
